It’s not quite the end of the month yet, but I thought that I would get my August recap in early as it has been one fabulous month. Sorry to sound like a stuck record (again!), but I can’t believe that there’s only a few days of this month left. This year is just speeding by and there are still lots of brilliant things on the horizon before the year is out.
Like every month so far this year and now for the rest of my life, it has been very much about the baby and getting ready for him. Not only has August involved getting the house ready and his ‘areas’ in the house, but I’ve also been concentrating on myself and getting mentally and physically ready for labour. At very short notice I was able to book an active labour antenatal course by Lazy Daisy, with only 3 classes left they have instilled a sense of confidence and reassurance in me about the stages of labour. Having a drug-free labour is very important to me and these classes have definitely given me a boost in my hopes to achieve that.
Getting prepared has also meant packing my hospital bag and writing up my birth preferences according to what I would like to happen during labour. However, I know that what I want may be thrown out of the window completely, so I’m going into this with a flexible approach.
Sorry, but I had to mention this red velvet cake again. I baked one for a big family picnic and a second for when my family came to visit and on both occasions it went down a treat. There has definitely been lots of cake in these parts this month.
With the blogs 4 year blogiversary coming up next month I revealed that I had some big plans for the blog and shared my own personal journey as part of this as they’re in some ways interconnected. Again I’m so overwhelmed by your supportive and encouraging comments. I really do have the most wonderful readers. I’m really excited about what’s coming up on the blog hopefully towards the end of the year!
I shared some wonderful recipes on the blog too, like my Strawberry and Watermelon Cooler, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Muffins, Blueberry and Almond Polenta Cake and my Roasted Vegetable & Quinoa Salad with a pomegranate & balsamic dressing. Check them out if you haven’t already and my updated recipe page.
Talking of recipes, I was also very excited to see my Roasted Squash and Chicken Salad recipe being featured on the All About You website.
My favourite posts from August:
10 superfoods for super skin
Kalkan 2014 – a car called Jeff & a dog called Sammy
Sifting through the crap and finding health fads that I LOVE
Superiority in food choices
Well September looks to be an epic or should that be life changing month for me and my family as we await the arrival of my munchkin. We’re all waiting with abated breath and I’m constantly getting messages checking to see if there are any potential labour signs. I need him to hang on in there a bit longer as I have my maternity photo shoot tomorrow, which looks set to be lots of fun. Next month is going to be magical.
How was August for you? What are you most excited about in September?

August has disappeared so quickly it’s been a very busy month so I cannot wait till September as we go in holiday! 1 week resting, chilling and hiding from cyber world! Looks like you had a fab month x
