With the Winter Olympics in full swing and With bwin looking to celebrate women in sport, I thought that it would be the perfect time to reflect and share some of the sports women who I find inspirational.  All of these women have shown great strength, courage and determination to reach their awe inspiring achievements, which I think acts as great motivation.  They are a true testament that when you put your mind to something you can achieve your dreams no matter how impossible they may seem from the start.

Here’s a handful of some of my favourite women in sport today:

Probably the Pride of Britain after the London Olympics, Jessica Ennis captured the hearts of millions in the UK after winning gold for competing in the heptathlon.   We are both of a similar age and creed, yet have completely different lives, her strength and determination from such an early age is motivating.

Long distance runner Paula Radcliffe is an inspiration to many in the running world.  This woman’s gutsy approach and incredible ability is astounding.  I think she impressed everyone when she was training whilst heavily pregnant.

Although not an athlete or a sports woman, Claire Balding’s impeccable coverage of the London 2012 Olympics, helped raise the awareness of women in sport and earn her an OBE last year…go Claire!

The power house of tennis is still at the top of her game even after all of these years.  Serena Williams’ dedication to her sport and her willingness to want to be better and try harder is very inspiring to me.

Former Paralympian Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, is now more widely known for her campaigning for disabled and women’s sports and never fails to fight for what she believes in.

These are just a small selection of the hundreds of women in sports that are inspiring – which women in sport inspire you and why?
