Happy Friday! I hope this week has been kind to you. I’ve had an extremely productive week with hitting my deadlines at work and getting things sorted. At this point in time I finally feel like I’m back in the groove and enjoying being back in sync with my routine- that’s always a good thing.
The theme for this week has very much been dessert for breakfast. Like I mentioned in Wednesdays post I enjoyed slice of Rosemary, Apple and Prune yoghurt cake for breakfast. I also enjoyed one of the flapjacks that I made at the weekend for breakfast on Monday:
I had one of these Mixed Berry Oatmeal Bars with some natural yoghurt and a chopped apple. These flapjacks aren’t strictly for dessert, so they also make great breakfast material, so tasty.

Desk breakfasts are quite common for me these days. I always have a trusty box of oats at work for the occasions when I don’t have time to eat at home. Yesterday I made a simple bowl of oats with just water and added acacia honey and a raw seed mix from Detox My World. This was a pretty basic bowl of oats, but it tasted pretty damn good! Sometimes it’s nice just to have very basic food compared to some of my more multi-ingredient concoctions.
In an effort to keep warm I have been eating soups for lunch at work; The New Covent Garden soups were on offer in Sainsbury’s at the beginning of the week so I stocked up on some for easy lunches, I’ve also been enjoying the leftovers of my brown chickpea and vegetable stew…it’ one of my favourite things to eat at the moment.
It was all about raising money for charity at work last week for Children in Need. Our boss had cooked ratatouille and chilli to sell for charity and there was also a cheese board and other sides on offer. The ratatouille was so delicious I had a portion topped with cheese and a slice of soda bread.
There was also a cupcake stand where you could buy a cupcake to decorate at your own leisure. In another part of the office we had a table football competition over lunch time too. It was so much fun and great to see everyone get involved. We raised quite a bit of money for charity too, which is always creates such a positive buzz in any work place.
It has been absolutely freezing this week and very wintery. I’ve had to defrost my car a couple of times already. Although I have enjoyed wrapping up warm in my big scarves and chunky knitwear. I put on my new floral shirt from Zara on Wednesday, but quickly decided to put a huge cardigan on with it…it was just too cold otherwise!
They are switching on the Christmas lights this weekend in Oxford so we are going to pop down to see them to get in the Christmas spirit. I cannot wait as this is my favourite time of year. I’m such a big kid, but I don’t care, I LOVE Christmas!
I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!
What foods have you been eating to stay warm this week?
Does your work place hold charity events? Did you do anything for Children in Need?

Urgh it is so cold isn’t it? I drink lots of peppermint tea to keep me warm. And soups! Mmmm.
I’d hate to eat my breakfast at work. Breakfast for me is ‘Anna time’ to just chill, read my book and enjoy breakfast at home. I get narked off enough at work when people interrupt my lunch haha.
This is going to bug me so I have to ask, in that picture with the cupcakes there are cupcakes and the sprinkles and marshmallows….was there also icing to put on?? Otherwise how did they stay on the cupcakes??
I much prefer to have my breakfast at home too and take my time over it.
We had a staff talent show (for the children tow atxh) for children in need last week- it was very funny. We have also been raising money for the Typhoon rescue effort- I made cakes for the staffroom and the children got to watch some videos in exchange for payment. I think it is lovely when work places get involved with charity efforts like that although it does make me think of The Office episode with him wearing that big emu costume.
Ha yes I get what you mean with the Office reference. 🙂
I’ve been all over soup this week, it’s just been way too cold!
The weather has been freezing hasn’t it!
The cupcake bar looks so much fun and for a great cause too.
It really was fun!
