Happy Tuesday friends! Today I have another video for you. This particular subject matter may not be of interest to everyone, which I totally appreciate. Since my last pregnancy video was quite popular I thought that I would record another. This time I thought that it would be nice to share some of the changes that I have experienced during pregnancy so far. Obviously, this is all new to me, but I thought that some of you may be able to relate or would like to share some of your own experiences too.
Body and Fashion
Obviously the main change here is my protruding baby bump. I love it! I now have a prominent bump, which cannot be missed – it finally popped out properly a few weeks ago. This may be a bit TMI, excuse me if so, but my boobs have increased in size and I have gone up by one bra size. By no means am I on the Katie Price side of life, but I they are noticeably bigger compared to their pre-pregnancy size.
In terms of maternity wear, I haven’t bought that much at all. I invested in maternity jeans at around 16 weeks as my regular jeans wouldn’t do up over my bump and were a God send…far more comfortable! I’ve also bought one maternity top. Generally, my pregnancy wardrobe consists of flowy A-line tops and maxi dresses that I can grow into. I haven’t gone up a size yet, but I know that there is still a long way to go so this will most likely change. Maternity/nursing bras have been a must and a wise investment as I figured I would need these post pregnancy too.
Diet and Eating
My eating preferences changed dramatically in my first trimester as my body was getting used to all of the hormones. Initially I had major aversions to vegetables and green smoothies, which was really surprising. I could only eat vegetables if they were in some sort of sauce or with ketchup. There was also my new carbohydrate addiction, I wanted to eat all the carbs in the world. Nowadays things are a lot more balanced and my eating is back to normal. I’ve found that I do like to start my day with carbs, perhaps this has to with not eating anything for 8 hours as a result of sleeping. In regards to pregnancy cravings I haven’t experienced any. I do love avocados and summer berries at the moment though…no cravings for sand or cement yet…thank goodness!
Here’s me and the bump at 20 weeks hitting the gym
Fitness
There have been some big changes in my fitness routine. Before my pregnancy I worked out 5-6 times a week with a mix of cardio, strength, yoga, running and spinning. I’ve had to give up my spinning class as I could no longer keep up with the others. Now I work out at the gym 2-3 times a week doing some gentle cardio on the bike and walking on the treadmill at a maximum incline. I also like to mix in yoga and walking too, even house work and shopping is considered as exercise to me now. The main thing for me in terms of exercise is to do the best for me and my baby, simply do what I can and enjoy it.
Beauty Routine
I blogged a few weeks ago about some of the new natural and organic products that I’ve recently purchased. I think most new mother’s begin to worry about the kind of environment that their unborn child is growing in and look to strip the chemicals from their routine as much as they can – it’s also more environmentally friendly. Products such as body oils, belly butters and a natural deodorant have all helped me achieve this.

Overall, I’ve never felt better and really cannot complain, my baby boy is being so kind to his mama! Although this may change in the next trimester. My niggles from the first trimester such as the food aversions, lower back pain and the tiredness have gone and I think I’ve finally found that pregnancy glow that everyone talks about. I feel very comfortable and have finally settled into my changing body.
Hopefully some of you found this helpful and perhaps can relate to some of my experiences. I know very early on all I kept asking was ‘…is this normal?‘ but of course every pregnancy is different, that’s what makes it so beautiful.
You can watch my Then and Now video below:
Obviously, from the thumbnail you can see that napping was a big deal for me in my first trimester!
What changes did you experience at the half way point of your pregnancy? If you’re not pregnant, do you find any of my experiences surprising or unexpected?

Oh man, veggies were a big no no for me while pregnant! How can we get disgusted so much by something we usual looooove, huh? 😛 And it’s so nice that baby boy is being fairly good to you~I think any pregnancy that isn’t a hurricane is an extra blessing.
Your bump is so cute and you are looking amazing! Glad all your niggles are gone. I remember my mum saying she loved being pregnant with me and I think it’s such a blessing when you enjoy pregnancy!
Pregnancy changes are such a beautiful thing. I remember going of greens big time during my first trimesters. You look beautiful.
Really showing now in the cute polka dot number, you’re definately glowing, Gemma(got the fondest memories of being an expectant mom:)!

when I was pregnant with my eldest, the 2nd trimester was when I felt amazing. I didn’t get that with my younger two – I stayed tired from beginning to end! In my first and second pregnancies, the second trimester was when I started craving cups of tea, and it was when I went off tea entirely during my third pregnancy (and two years on, I still can’t drink tea!).
You’re looking really well 🙂
There are some women that suit pregnancy and some that look a tiny bit odd – but it totally suits you! I’ve never been pregnant, but I know even when I’m feeling nauseous normally the last thing I want is vegetables – all I want is apples, ginger and dry salty carbs ;P
One of my worries when I’m pregnant is having an apple aversion – it would be devastating! 😉 Ben jokes saying I’ll probably go off all things healthy and just want McDonalds and Domino’s. Ha!
Glad that it’s all going so smoothly for you and the changes aren’t so dramatic that you’re life has been up-heaved. Fingers crossed it continues this way for you 🙂
You are doing so well and looking great. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is just as good!
Glad you are settling into your pregnant body. It sounds like you are doing really well! 🙂
Veggies are a hit or miss for me. I have been loving juices 🙂
Looking good sweetie!! xo
You are absolutely glowing!!
Its strange what you say about the carb + ketchup with vegetables. My hormones have long been haywire – apparently they are directly linked to the behavior of your blood sugar which changes your cravings, i.e. it becomes in your blood to crave carbohydrates. So i have always had this issue and it’s funny to hear that you do too! Although i’m not pregnant 😉
All the best chica! xo
Isn’t it odd how everybody seems to go off of vegetables and fresh produce during their first trimester? And the sand and cement?…Haha! I wonder if anyone has ever given in to those cravings?…!
It is weird, aversions to green stuff isn’t what I expected at all!
Oh god – a craving for sand and cement would be crazy!
