Hey folk, I hope you are all fine and dandy this Sunday morning. I’m up quite early to get to my second hot yoga class this weekend, more on that in a moment. So far this weekend has been fantastic and full of things I love. The sun is shining right now so fingers crossed it’s going to get even better!
It was so quiet and peaceful early in the morning in town
Yesterday I headed into town quite early to get some things done before my yoga class, which included a leisurely breakfast at the Art Café:
They have a great selection of organic goods. I went for a delicious vanilla chai latte and croissant, whilst I read my book, bliss!
I finished up and got my eye brows threaded and had a wonder around the shops. I did end up picking up a small haul from Primark, which I’m going to share later this week. Afterwards I headed to my first hot yoga class at Yoga Avenue. There is so much to say about this class that I think I will save it for a separate post, but it was fantastic. I have never sweated so much in my entire life, my clothes were drenched afterwards, and I’m going back for more later.
When I got home I was feeling light headed after my hot yoga class, which is apparently normal. I think I must have chugged at least 3.5 litres of water yesterday to compensate for loosing all of that water through sweating. After showering I fixed myself some lunch.
I’ve been eating a lot of eggs recently so this salad was spot on. Mixed leaves, avocado, cherry tomatoes, 2 hard boiled eggs and a honey, mustard and herb dressing, yum!
Afterwards I headed out to so the food shopping…
…it was trying to rain outside but I still wanted to show off my lovely gladiator sandals, love these!
Once I had unpacked the shopping it was snack time.
Chopped apple, almond butter, sweet and salty popcorn
When I was I out I picked up some pea protein from Holland and Barratt. It’s been a while since I had used this stuff, you can read my thoughts on it here.
Since it’s very neutral in taste I decided to whip some Macadamia and Coconut Protein Truffles.
Holy yum, these are good! They are so simple to make too. Luckily I made quite a few as they are rather nourish and I got a bit carried away during my taste test. =)
For dinner I pan fried a whole sea bass and made a tarragon, lemon and butter sauce and served it with sweet potato wedges. I loved this dish and the lemon and tarragon worked really well together in the butter sauce.
My evening involved a movie and lots of dark chocolate for the win!
Looking back I managed to squeeze a lot of my favourite things into yesterday. Alfie’s on call all weekend, so I’m packing in all of the things that I love to still make it the perfect weekend in his absence. Obviously, I adore spending time with Alfie but sometimes it’s nice to just have some ‘me’ time.
What activities make your weekend perfect?
What have you been up to this weekend?

What an amazing sounding weekend Jemma! I used to do hot yoga and the amount of sweat was unbelievable! You do feel incredible after but it wasn’t a long-term exercise for me for a number of reasons. Glad you managed to pack so much in to this weekend 🙂
I’m not sure if I could do it long term as it is very intense but I’m loving it so far 🙂
That sounds like such a perfect day!
It was lovely! 🙂
Sounds like a good day! I have been quite poorly unfortunately. I remembered your Lucozade trick and I must say it does help a little!
Sorry you have been ill. I hope the Lucozade helped.
I also had a Primark haul this week and picked up two new dresses and a cardigan for just under £30. Bargain!
I like the idea of popcorn, nut butter and an apple for a snack. That’s going into my snack bank for this week! 🙂
You can always find a bargain in Primark, love that place! 🙂
lovely weekend! I’m a big bikram fan, so I’m really interested to read more about your hot yoga experience!
I always wanted to try Bikram. I’m loving hot yoga so far 🙂
All that food looks delicious! I’m an avid yoga fan, but I’m yet to try Bikram. I must give it a go. We were returning from the lake district so we spent the whole weekend driving back and unpacking all the camping gear – tedious, but had to be done!
Love the sandals! Ah I miss hot yoga, I do need to try and get over to Newcastle for it again soon
Can’t wait to hear about the hot yoga as I’m hoping to give it a go once I move to Cardiff. I have some pea protein in the back on my cupboard, I’ll have to try this recipe to help e use it up!
Hot yoga sounds really cool (ha or not I guess!) Having. Real fast out in town with a book sounds really lovely and peaceful. What a great morning!
Hot yoga sounds awesome, I need to check it out sometime. Great for getting all those toxins out too! That was the first protein I ever bought, it’s good value and blends really well. Like the sound of the protein balls.
Love the sound of reading in a cafe- bliss 🙂
