Happy Sunday, hope you’re all having brilliant weekends! We’re having a pretty relaxed on over here, which is lovely and very much-needed. I took Aiden to see his Great-Grandma and Nana yesterday had a great time. We don’t really have any plans for today, perhaps catching up on some sleep as Aiden has sprouted 3 new teeth and that makes for one tired mama over here.
Our week was pretty busy and activity heavy too with a baby music class, swimming, Bambino cinema to watch Far From the Madding Crowd (fab film!), coffee dates and strawberry picking. I’ve been so excited to go strawberry picking at the local farm for weeks, so was really happy when we finally made our way there. I picked a large punnet that I’ve eaten all week and have a recipe planned with the last few strawberries left over.
Of course, it was Father’s Day last weekend and my boys looked all smart for our celebratory Father’s Day meal, my little man looked so adorable in his little shirt! We went to a restaurant in Oxford that we have never been to before and had dinner in their conservatory, which was lovely as it was still sunny outside when we arrived. Both Alfie and I had the grilled prawns to start and they were delicious.
For my main I had the pork loin and even though it tasted wonderful I couldn’t finish it all because of the generous portion sizes at this restaurant – there was too much meat for me.
For dessert, we both had the refreshing lemon posset that came with these almond biscuits. Again it was another generous serving, but I managed to finish the dessert, it would have been rude not to. 🙂

This strawberry and banana smoothie with coconut butter and cashew nuts was so creamy that it came out more like a milkshake, so yummy!

Eggs and avocado are always a staple in our house, just check out those runny yolks! We had some bacon leftover from Alfie’s Father’s Day breakfast so I fried some and added it to my rather hearty weekday breakfast.
All the strawberries with this breakfast yesterday morning with some chocolate coconut yoghurt, gluten free granola and some almond chia butter. This was amazing!

I visited my favourite organic coffee shop this week and treated myself to this super tasty and nourishing lentil salad and picked up a gluten-free sourdough cinnamon roll and a green matcha latte too (not pictured):
I think that it’s so wonderful that people with special dietary requirements don’t have to miss out too much on delicious treats like this anymore. The food industry is doing some great things at the moment.
I also picked up this jar or organic and raw coconut butter. The Artisana brand that I usually buy is amazing, but I always have to order it from iHerb, so it was great to see this on the shelves and I don’t have to wait for it to be delivered either.
This was a really quick and simple dinner of courgetti with baked salmon, asparagus and tomatoes in a cream cheese sauce. It took less than 20 minutes to make and was so delicious. I think salmon is my favourite fish, it has such a meaty texture and full of healthy fats too.
Another favourite meal of mine this week was these sweet potato enchiladas with refried beans that I was asked to try by Old El Paso*. The recipe was incredibly easy to follow and I love Mexican food anyway so I knew that I was going to really enjoy these. They’re such a quick and easy family meal and we had plenty leftover for the next day too.

After the Bambino Cinema, my friend and I decided to treat ourselves to tea and cake, my lemon drizzle muffin was epic if a bit too sweet for me. I had a pot of earl grey tea too and the deli owner was keeping a timer going to tell me when my tea was correctly brewed that I thought was a nice touch.
Well, I think I’m going to continue with the theme of relaxation and have a bit of a movie/box set binge and sofa day and maybe squeeze in a bit of baking and recipe creation too. A big YAY for Wimbledon starting next week! I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead.

Your photographs are amazing. Looks like you had a nice Father’s Day. We went to church in the morning and went to a Chinese Restaurant for lunch. It was a nice day.
Thank you! Sounds like yo had a lovely celebration for Father’s Day. 🙂
I try to take Tilly strawberry picking but we haven’t been this year because we have been so so busy. Its great for the kids to learn where fruit comes from. Did you try making jam with the strawberries? I tried it once – never again ha ha. Not a good combination with kids in the kitchen. Looks like you had a lovely fathers day meal and your photos are lovely
I want to make some chia jam, but didn’t get round to it this time. Perfect excuse to go back for some more. 🙂
I used to go strawberry picking with my gran when I was a kid. I loved it.
Same here, so much fun!
Strawberry picking!!! I’m so envious!!! Fresh strawberries beat all the ones in supermarkets. Those meals you had for fathers day look so nice. By the way, what’s a lemon posset?
They are much better quality than the supermarket ones, I agree. A lemon posset is a mousse like dessert, so yummy.
Wow those meals look wonderfull its hard to believe foid that looks so good can actually be healthy! Iv recently made strawberry chia jam which is wonderful with oats
I really want to make chia jam, it looks and sounds delicious.
I used to love going to pick your own farms when I was little. There is one near me, but I have not been in years. I keep thinking one day I should go and collect loads to make a big batch of jam, but I haven’t yet.
I used to go with my grandparents when I was younger and loved it. Considering that this farm is just down the road from me I’m surprised that I hadn’t been sooner.
There’s a strawberry farm near my parents and I do enjoy going there and getting loads of strawberries. But I do end up with too many to eat and I’m a rubbish baker…Though I’m sure a crumble would be easy enough.
Love the sound of that meal you had – yum! And nice that the portions were too big rather than too small which I find so often these days.
