Yoga is definitely a great way to start the day. I’ve just finished a 20 minute session of my own free style yoga and I feel better for it. In fact that’s probably the most movement that I’ve done all weekend. Alfie’s away visiting friends so I have been very much doing my own thing and I’ having a sofa and sweats kind of weekend.
It felt like my weekend started on Friday as we had an extended work lunch for a colleague’s leaving do. I had the pan fried sea bream with hand cut chips.
This really was fantastic!
The bosses at work also bought us cupcakes from a very posh patisserie:
I do love my job and the people I work with and the cakes of course!
Yesterday for breakfast I made some scrambled eggs with spinach, cherry tomatoes and grated cheese. I used 3 whole eggs so this was very filling and kept me full for hours.
I just adore fish so it featured in this fantastic salad: peppered smoked mackerel, peppers, cucumber and mixed leaves, yummy!
We had some heavy rain yesterday afternoon so I decided to get my bake on and bake some protein brownies…
These do taste as good as they look! I know as I had to do the obligatory taste test with a mug of peppermint tea. OMG! Fudgy, chocolaty and nutty goodness all in one brownie, recipe to come.
I’ve also been snacking on lots of juicy blackberries…love them!
For dinner last night made my Sweet Potato and Chickpea Curry, which can be found on my newly updated recipe page. I’ve been doing a few updates on the blog in line with some reader suggestions including printable recipes and I’ve also created a recipe board on my Pinterest too.
Baking yesterday was the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon for me. The sun is shining at the moment so hopefully I will get to read on the garden later.
How do you like to spend a rainy afternoon?
Have you baked anything super delicious recently?

Oh wow, the brownie looks amazing – cant wait for the recipe! I spent a rainy afternoon yesterday unpacking boxes from our spare room…but usually it’s the perfect excuse to get lost in a book or a good film. I love the recent sunny weather but it is nice to have some rain every now again for some guilt free loafing! Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🙂
Hope you got all of those boxes organised. 🙂 A book or film on a rainy day is simply perfection.
Ooh looks yummy Jemma! I also love your wooden heart bowl, so lovely! The brownies look uh-mazing, I’m really into protein recipes at the moment so can’t wait to heart this one! My favourite thing to do on a rainy afternoon is a cinema trip or cosy film day 🙂 Haven’t baked anything recently, but am going to also bake some brownies (though more of the deadly unhealthy kind 😉 ) this week for my colleagues as am changing department soon!
Oooh I lurrrrrrrrrrrrrve brownies in all shapes and forms…happy baking!
Baking is the perfect rainy day activity. I made some jam yesterday (with blackcurrants from the garden)- although it wasn’t raining I wanted to use them.
That brownie looks wonderful- I look forward to seeing your recipe.
Sounds perfect. I would love to be able to make my own jam.
lovely ! i’ve been baking coco- chia muffins which have been delicious !
They sound fantastic!
Your scrambled egg looks lovely, and what a cute little wooden heart dish that is! I am a sucker for little bits like that, got a fair few heart ramekin dishes which I bought for myself despite them being in the shops around valentines day!
I like to spend rainy afternoons doing crafty things like making cards or jewellery.
As for baking, sadly I haven’t baked much at all recently because with the weather being so warm I haven’t wanted to heat up my flat by turing on the oven!! I do have a VERY long list of bookmarked recipes that I want to make though!!
Thanks! I’m a bit of a fiend for quirky kitchen pieces, I just cannot help it!
We watched a film yesterday and it was just lovely. Sometimes it’s nice to stay indoors all cozy rather than feel guilty for not being outside in the sunshine hehe.
I always use three eggs for omelettes, and tons of veggies. I can’t understand why some people would just eat egg whites! You’re missing the best bit!
I totally agree. Duvet days with a movie are the best.
I’m not loving the rain- bring the sun back! I definitely think being productive in the kitchen is a good way to spend a rainy day! The brownie looks so gooey and fudgy!
I’m missing the sunshine too. Although it means that I don’t have to water the plants in the garden with all of this rain 🙂
I love to eat fish in it’s whole form. Just made 2 whole trouts for my boyfriends and mine anniversary dinner recently. Delicious!
It really was quite a treat, loved it!
I have just started a new Protein Rich Diet (as suffering from allergies atm such as eggs, dairy, corn, garlic, onion, gluten) and it was really inspirational to have a look at your day of foodie pics as it makes me less nervous now about eating so much protein which my nutritionist has advised me to do! So thank you!
Also I LOVE the layout of your blog, I really need to try and find someone to help me move from wordpress.com to .org ! xo
Glad you enjoyed the post! I hope you new high protein diet works for you and that you get to the bottom of your allergies.
I’m definitely a baker when it’s raining! And I love settling down to a movie, snuggling up on the sofa. Bliss!
