I’ve been treating myself to some pampering goodies…

natural beauty

Recently I’ve been on a bit of a beauty binge and have bought a few new items with a focus on natural and organic ingredients.  As I have mentioned in previous posts I’m trying to keep my pregnancy as natural as possible and thought that the nasty chemicals in some of my cosmetics and beauty products needed to go.   After doing a lot of research and reading online product reviews I bought some products to try, which I thought that I would share with you all.

I’ve been using the Liz Earle naturally active skin care range on and off for at least 10 years now and since going back to it I’ve been using it for 2 years straight.   It’s one of my favourite ranges as it’s very soft and gentle on my skin and I like the fact that it doesn’t contain any alcohol or animal extracts too.   The Cleanse and Polish cleanser is like my little bit of heaven in the morning.

One of the things that I was quick to change was my deodorant.  I’ve always used a spray-on for speed, but recently it bothered me that I was always inhaling the fumes on application.  On a shopping trip I popped into Lush to see what they had to offer and discovered the Aromaco Solid Deodorant Bar, which was recommended to me by a shop assistant.  It’s just like a bar of soap that you rub on dry skin after showering.  I do find it a bit strange from a hygienic point of view as it only comes in the original paper wrapper from the store – I think I might look for an organic roll-on after this has finished.

Next on my list was my nail varnishes and I invested in these pretty colours from OPI and Mavala, which are free from free from toluene, DBP and formaldehyde resin, making them safe for pregnancy.

Obviously, some belly butter was an essential for my growing bump.  I’ve been rubbing in Mama Bee’s Belly Butter by Burt’s bees in to my belly, boobs and hips to hopefully prevent stretch marks…fingers crossed!  The Fushi virgin organic coconut oil has also been a great accompaniment to the belly butter.  I love coconut oil as it’s such a great all-rounder and works as a fabulous moisturiser on my dry skin.

OMG!  This vanilla and coconut body wash by Korres smells divine and at just £8.oo it’s reasonably priced too.  OK, so it’s not made from 100% natural ingredients, but 90% is good enough for me – it’s such a lovely product that I think I can be all forgiving.

Another lovely organic product by Fushi.  I’ve been using this as a moisturiser straight after showering as it’s super absorbent and locks in the moisture without being greasy.  You can also use it as a massage oil too, which will be a treat on tired and aching bodies.

Another product that I have my eye on is the Aveda damage remedy range for my hair.  I chemically treat my hair to relax my roots, so it does tend to have a dry texture and needs lots of hydration.  I’ve heard great things about this Aveda range so this has gone straight on to my wishlist amongst some other products too.

So far, this little lot is treating me well and every time I use them I feel like I’m being pampered and indulged.  As I said above I do have a few more items that I would like to buy plus an organic toiletries wishlist for the baby, which I will share another time.

Have you used any of the products mentioned above?  Do you believe in natural beauty products or think that they are a waste of time?
