After all the indulgent and rich food, that most of us have consumed over Christmas there is that general ‘meh’ feeling in the air – that sluggish and tired feeling even though you’ve had all the relaxation in the world over the festive period. I like to start a new year as I mean to go on and a part of that is wanting to feel my tip-top self, totally fabulous! Here are some of my key tips for a happier tummy that have helped me:
1. Drink lots of water
Water is great for rehydrating your body. As part of my morning routine, I like to drink warm water before breakfast with a slice of lemon or a cup of herbal tea like chamomile.
2. Increase your fibre intake
Eating a high fibre diet that is full of fruit, vegetables, legumes and grains are a definitive way to keep things moving…if you know what I mean! Fibre keeps the digestive system in good working order and prevents you becoming constipated.
3. Keep on moving
Not only does regular exercise help to maintain your healthy happy weight that is personal to your body, but it also has a positive effect on your digestion by keeping everything moving to prevent constipation.
Throughout January, Activia Fibre are promoting their #HappyTunmmy Movement, designed to celebrate how much more you can get out of life when you have a happy tummy. Feeling good on the inside by having optimum digestive health can help you enjoy those special moments in life.
Activia Fibre are championing #HappyTummy’s this January by running a daily giveaway of a ‘Happy Tummy hamper’ and also a luxury retreat once a week. You can get involved in the #HappyTummy movement via Activia’s Facebook page and Twitter feed and by using the hashtag #HappyTummy.
Are you conscious of your digestive well-being? How to you maintain a healthy digestive system?
*in partnership with Activia, but all opinions are my own
1. Activia Fibre contains wheat bran fibre that contributes to an acceleration of intestinal transit.
2. The claimed effect is obtained with a daily intake of at least 10g of wheat bran fibre.
3. Enjoy as part of a healthy balanced diet and lifestyle.

I’ve been using the Water Your Body App to remind myself to drink water. Helps when I’m so busy taking care of the littlies that I don’t take care of myself!

A really good post – I suffer from Colitis, which is a stomach complaint, and so try to do some of these things at the moment – they do help.

Drinking lots of water, along with a daily dose of kombucha and sauerkraut seems to keep my tummy happy. Definitely agree with simplifying meals too!
I know I will always get bloated if I eat too much vegetables – especially certain vegetables so for me it’s not going crazy on the portion sizes with that! And eating rubbish food with lots of sugar always makes me feel lethargic so less of that as well.
Great tips! Water makes such a huge difference, doesn’t it. I am trying to increase my water intake this month. Good job I love water 🙂
Great tips and good ideas. I really do like water with lemon in the mornings especially 🙂
