Happy Sunday guys!  I hope that you are all enjoying a restful Bank Holiday weekend if you’re in the UK.  Our little man is going to be 11 months in a few days time, it’s crazy how the time is disappearing before my eyes. This month we’ve really seen him make that transition from being a baby to a proper little boy…if that makes sense.  I know that he’s still small and still a baby, but he’s becoming so independent which is lovely to watch. I’m making sure that I can get in as many baby snuggles as I can at the minute because I know someday, he won’t want to cuddle his mama.

Sleeping

Nothing has changed here really and Aiden still starts the night sleeping in his cot and then in our bed after his night feed.  The past couple of days he has only been waking up at 2 am, like clockwork for his feed, so fingers crossed that he keeps this up!

During the day, he’s been a trooper with his naps when we’re at home, getting in 1-2 hours mid-morning and another nap later in the afternoon for about 30 minutes.  Things have gotten tricky when we have been out for the day or had visitors and he refuses to take his long morning nap.  On these occasions, the cheeky monkey has taken a longer nap in the afternoon until 5.30-6 pm, which means he doesn’t want to sleep until later in the evening. It’s difficult, but when this happens I’ve tried to keep him awake and he has an early bedtime instead.   It’s not always so black and white, but after a nap he’s always full of beans and happy again…it must be exhausting being a baby!

Weaning and Breastfeeding

I love watching Aiden devour his food, he’s very explorative with his tastes and will try pretty much anything.  He tends to go through cycles of what he likes and doesn’t like – strawberries are off the menu this week, but he loved them a couple of weeks ago!  Currently, he’s going through a phase of chewing and then spitting his food out, it’s completely gross and I hope it passes soon. I have a post planned about baby weaning soon and our adapted version of baby-led weaning, which I know it isn’t for everyone, but I hope some of you will find it helpful.

We’re still on the same schedule as last month when it comes to solids and fitting in milk feeds, which my little man is happy with at the moment.  He had a mammoth feeding session the other day though, almost like back to when he was a newborn, but I think he’s teething and was looking for some comfort.

Body

At the moment I’m in a pretty decent place where my body is concerned and I think a lot of that has to do with throwing out and selling lots of clothes and updating my wardrobe.  Wearing clothes that suit my mummy shape feels so much better and has boosted my confidence.  It’s amazing how liberating and refreshing it can feel to get rid of the crap and change things up a bit.  I have a post coming up all about this especially on how to do this on a budget.

Mind

My word for August was ORGANISE and I’ve taken a couple of steps and made some purchases to help me do this.  I’m super excited for my new blog planner and happiness planner to arrive and I know they are going to help me loads in dumping everything that’s in my mind and organising the chaos.  I’ve been desperate for some clarity among my mummy cloud for ages and I know that these planners are going to be brilliant for that.

Aiden’s Milestones

OMG!  How grown up does Aiden look in his adorable little suit at my beautiful mum’s wedding.  Like I mentioned earlier on, he looks like a proper little boy now and he’s been up to all sorts. He likes to be up on his feet now and we bought him a baby walker so he can practice taking his baby steps.  He loves playing with all the toys on the front and we’re encouraging him to walk with it as well as play too.

Now Aiden actually understands certain instructions so it’s been fun teaching him certain things.  I’ve taught him how to kiss me on the cheek when I say ‘kiss-kiss’ and he can shake his head when I say ‘no, no, no’ – I’m quickly trying to teach him to nod to ‘yes’, but he hasn’t been as responsive so far.  He can feed himself confidently with a spoon (the amount of mess is insane!); loves to play games and socialise; wave his hands and has tried to copy Alfie and I clicking our fingers, but he hasn’t quite mastered that skill yet.

I’m loving seeing his character develop and he’s a cheeky little monkey at the best of times.  His current favourite place to play is under my desk and USB cables are apparently the best thing ever.  This is the age where you start having to teach baby’s right from wrong because they are so into everything, it’s so difficult because they don’t understand.  You seriously need eyes in the back of your head at this age, but I really am having a blast!

HOW DO YOU STAY ORGANISED AND FIND CLARITY WHEN YOU HAVE SO MUCH GOING ON?

WHAT WAS YOUR BABY GETTING UP TO AT THIS AGE?  HOW DID YOU TEACH YOUR BABY RIGHT FROM WRONG?
