Well that time of year when we all remember and appreciate the special woman in our lives is just around the corner.
Yes, it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday and even though I will be working I will be thinking about all of the big and little things my mum has done for me over the years. As we get older and more dependent it’s easy to forget about everything that our lovely mums do for us. Even though we become less reliant on them they are still their fighting our corner, offering bundles of support and love.
We knew that we wouldn’t be around for Mother’s Day as both me and Alfie are working. To make up for our absence we took my mum out for a very posh meal at Stapleford Park set in the Leicestershire countryside.
I managed to take some quick snaps of some of the rooms inside the house whilst we were waited to be seated at our table.
My mum made herself right at home in these opulent settings. I think she was ready to move in and could get quite used to being waited on. =}
A beautiful dining room set for a beautiful meal.
We all opted for a main and dessert. For my main I had the breast of corn fed chicken, polenta chips, spiced tomato sauce. This was divine and I was was quite skeptical about the corn chips but they were pretty tasty with a lovely crunchy outside and fluffy middle, so good!
My mum and her partner Nigel both had the pan-fried hake, sautéed potatoes, parsley & brown shrimp butter, which they both agreed was very good too.
Dessert was a very easy decision indeed. It was the sticky toffee pudding, butterscotch sauce, vanilla ice cream all round. I was quite surprised by the size of the sticky toffee pudding, don’t let the picture fool you on it’s size. For such a sweet dessert it’s usually served in smaller portions. I’m not going to lie though I ate every last piece and every one of our plate was scraped clean. This was one epic dessert!
Happy faces all round!
After dinner we went for a wonder around the old house which was just steeped in history in every room. Such a fabulous night out, with such amazing company and food.
Happy Mother’s Day mum! x
