Happy Sunday everyone!  Hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend. Mine has been pretty awesome as one of my oldest friends is staying over for the weekend and it’s been so much fun seeing her. We went to a wedding in Hampshire yesterday that just was stunning.  My hospital bag was safely stowed away in the boot of my car just in case and we’re heading out for breakfast this morning before she heads home.

Last weekend Alfie and I headed to Plymouth for the day for our friend’s daughter’s naming ceremony.  Following the ceremony was a Mad Hatter’s tea party that started back to front: lots of cake and scones first followed by the main food.  It was set by a beautiful marina that we walked around afterwards and enjoyed some drinks.

There has been lots of delicious food consumed around these parts recently.  After a week of virtually meat-free dinners I had a craving for chilli come Friday evening.  I made this chilli using organic beef on Friday night and served it with salad, cheese, salsa and organic natural yoghurt, yum!

I blogged about these quinoa chips the other day and they are seriously addictive.  This packet didn’t last long let me tell you.  I will definitely be looking to get my hands on some of these again.

For quick lunches whilst I’ve been getting organised around the house, I’ve been taking advantage of the current promotional deal in Sainsbury’s on the New Covent Garden soups. They have been perfect for the more autumnal weather we have had and I’ve loved eating them with rice cakes spread with butter.

Raw chocolate is one of my favourite HLB blogger food finds and IQ raw chocolate is one of my favourite brands.  These two particular bars are new to the range and they didn’t disappoint. I’ll be reviewing them on the blog soon.

Did you catch my Banana, Peanut Butter and Greek Yoghurt Smoothie recipe earlier this week? I’ve made variations of it all week as it’s so simple to whip up and no ‘specialist’ ingredients are needed.  This one was a banana and coconut smoothie with lots coconut water and extra coconut oil to get some wonderful healthy fats into my breakfast.

Last Sunday I’d had a bad night’s sleep and felt really ill the following day.  Early on in the day all I could stomach was toast and my trusted ‘sick tonic’ Lucozade.  My mum always gave me Lucozade when I was sick when I was younger and I always feel better for drinking it even now when I’m sick as an adult.  To spice up my sourdough toast I added some Biscoff spread and a chopped apple that was really delicious.

A few weeks ago I was treated to an aromatherapy prenatal massage at a local spa to review. It’s something that I wanted to do before my little dude makes an appearance.  OMG! It was amazing and I felt so relaxed and pampered afterwards. Due to the heat and pregnancy, I couldn’t use the steam room and sauna, but I did check out the gym for a short workout and made the most of the sunshine and had an al fresco lunch.  I chose the carbless falafel burger that came with roasted vegetables and sweet potato fries.

As well as my figs, I’ve been loving cherries recently.  I added some to my porridge the other day with some almond milk and a squeeze of Choc Shot sauce because I love that cherry and chocolate combination even for breakfast.  This bowl of porridge didn’t disappoint and really hit the spot!

I’ve also been enjoying my cherries in smoothie form too.  This was a cherry and almond green smoothie made with frozen cherries, kale, almond milk and almond extract.

This week’s workout round-up:

Wednesday – 30 minute walk

Thursday – REST

Friday – morning gym session (20 minutes of gentle cardio and strength routine – bicep curls, shoulder presses, chest presses, squats against the wall and weighted bum raises)

Saturday – REST

Sunday – Prenatal yoga session

I feel so blessed that I’m still able to workout at now 39 weeks pregnant.  Fair enough my walks around the village are more like waddles and my gym workouts are minimal, but it’s so important to me that I keep on moving.  I’m feeling great at the moment and very comfortable, if it was any different I would stop immediately.  I assess things on a day-to-day basis and see how I feel.  Next week may be interesting as we are heading towards 40 weeks pregnant next Saturday…eek!

Well that’s what I’ve been up to recently.  I’m pretty sure that I won’t be going very far in the last few weeks of my pregnancy.  The social events of the past couple of weekends have been great, but I think I will be staying local now until the baby is born.  🙂

What have you been up to this weekend? Have you been to any fun social events recently?

What’s the best thing that you’ve eaten this week?
