The trouble with going on holiday in the autumn is finding summer clothes to take with you in the shops is rather difficult.  Heavy knits, scarves and thermals are rather futile where I’m going.  Thankfully the shops have there summer sales at the end of August, early September and I used this as an opportunity to pick up a few bits for my honeymoon which I thought I would share with you on the blog.

I adore this dress!  Admittedly I was a bit apprehensive at first as the cut looked a bit mumsy on the hanger, but it fits perfectly and in all the rights places.  This was on sale in Joules and I just had to have it. The floral print is very abstract and very different to a anything else that I own.  The bold print and unusual colour way is just gorgeous and perfect for the sunshine.

This is another dress that I picked up in the sale, this time from Zara.  It’s a very simple tunic dress with tribal embroidered detail.  I think this is going to look great with some gladiator sandals or even wedges/ heels to dress it up a bit.  It does need  to be worn with a waist belt though to create some definition, but otherwise it’s fab!

Shorts aren’t something that I buy regularly, but with the amazing weather that we were blessed this summer I decided to stock up on a few pairs.  I picked these pair of navy shorts up from Bicester village from the Ralph Lauren store.  It was the nautical feel of these that attracted me.  They will look great with a stripy vest top and converse for a dressed down casual look.  On the contrary they could even be dressed up with a pretty top and cute sandals.

I adore the combination of polka dots and tropical flowers and the frills are a nice touch on this bikini from Debenhams.  This bikini is such a great fit and I feel fully supported when wearing it.  No Janet Jackson moments happening over here!  This was a bargain from the Debenhams sale via the internet and it arrived in a couple of days too.  I really recommend checking out the high street stores websites for swimwear as they tend to still have a wide selection, despite removing them from the shop floor come autumn.

Well I’m pretty much packed up and ready to go – only a few days left!

Have you bought anything summer clothes in the sales for a holiday or next summer?

Are you jetting off to get some winter sun this year?
