…fortunately that isn’t a reference to my mental state, although at some points this week I have wondered. This week has been manic with lots if things to do, I feel like I hamster on a wheel.  But, my saviour that is the weekend is here, so no complaints here.

I’ve been getting a sense of calm from drinking copious amounts of tea.  I reviewed these interesting liquid tea flavours this week to review on the blog.  I had a mug of the elderflower and lime flavour with a chocolate brownie yesterday afternoon.  Perfect afternoon pick me up!

There has been a plethora of gorgeous food this week including a fabulous salad with my favourite figs.

It was made up of peppery mixed leaves, red pepper, figs, Wensleydale cheese with blueberries (so good!) and mixed dried fruit and nuts. I LOVED this, full of my favourite things.

Another highlight for lunch this week was this Innocent lentil curry pot.

I was really surprised by the quality if this, lovely.

After my taste bud explosion at the weekend after the best meal ever I was inspired to try blackberries in a savory dish.  My main course consisted of a blackberry jus. I added some on top of steamed broccoli, roasted sprouts, roasted chicken breast, feta cheese and mixed nuts.

The flavours really went well together and I think I will be adding more blackberries to my lunches and dinners from now on.

I’m all over oats at the moment now that the weather has become cooler. I’ve got a stash of oats at work and at home so I can enjoy that comforting warmth in both places. This particular bowl of porridge was eaten at my desk, made with just water, oats, a chopped apple, acacia honey and mixed nuts.

Well, I think it’s obvious from this post that I’m a little obsessed with nuts at the moment.  They are great for snacking on and adding to dishes for added nutritional value.  All nuts have different nutritional benefits, but they are all full of protein, essential oils and healthy fats.  My personal favourites are pecan nuts, good for lowering cholesterol; almonds which are high in vitamin E; brazil nuts which are a brilliant source of selenium required to make the active thyroid hormone. Alfie has a soft spot for peanuts and macadamia nuts, especially if they are the candied variety.

Are you nuts about nuts?  Do you have a particular favourite?

What are your plans for the weekend?  We are spending most of this weekend getting ready for our honeymoon as it’s the last weekend before we go, so excited!  Also, my mum is coming to visit to have a look at our wedding album that arrived a few weeks ago.
