Today is definitely one for battering down the hatches. The rain is pounding against the windows and there is a duvet of grey clouds in the sky. I’m currently hibernating on the sofa with a warm mug of tea as I write and my salted caramel candle is burning making my living room all cosy; I plan to stay here for the rest of the day.
Yesterday was quite the contrary to my sedative state of today. I headed to the gym for an amazing workout, involving a 45 minute cardio session and a strength training session. Then went home to make breakfast:
I defrosted some slices of LivLife bread, which is bread with half of the carbs. This was fantastic topped with Justin’s chocolate almond butter and chopped figs. The Justin’s nut butter is from my latest iHerb order and my Lord I had forgotten how addictive this stuff is. I’ve found myself with a spoon in one hand and the jar of nut butter in the other and just eating straight from the jar. Not that I’m complaining as it’s bloody gorgeous, but I think I’m going to have to lock it away somewhere to save me from myself.
After breakfast I popped out to do a spot of shopping and to do the grocery shopping. I ended up being out longer than expected and unprepared without a snack in my bag. By the time I got home I was really hungry and ended up having a late lunch:
I made a three egg omelet stuffed with spring onions and Wensleydale cheese with cranberries and lots of spinach on the side…so good!
In the afternoon I got a couple of hours of work in just so that I have a head start on next week. I finished by 6.00 pm though and had a bit of a pampering session including a long hot shower, moisturizing with coconut oil and a mani- and pedicure.
Dinner was a revisit of an old favourite…socca pizza! It’s been so long since I’ve had one of these. I topped it with vegan pesto, spinach, grilled peppers and tomatoes and roasted chicken.
For dessert I had some stewed plums in gingerbread syrup, 0% Greek yoghurt and mixed nuts. The plums had seen better days so I decided to cook them down in some gingerbread syrup to make a sort of fruit compote. This went perfectly with my big glass of red wine, a great way to end my Saturday night.
Do you have to hide certain foods away from yourself to stop you devouring them in one go?
What are your current food addictions?

Yes! I bought a jar of Specaloos spread to try, and ended up eating the whole jar in about four days. Oh gosh that stuff is SO GOOD. I also can’t buy Peanut Butter Co.’s white chocolate PB. That’s dangerously delicious!
I need to try some of that Specaloos spread-it sounds gorgeous and just as addictive!
My good gracious you are not alone with Justins, seriously, I’ve been right there, spoon and jar in hand. Thank goodness it’s not sold in the UK 🙂 I do have a similar problem with Meridian Almond butter, though :-/
Ha! Glad that I’m not the only one, that stuff is like crack I swear!
Firstly, I’m loving your (correct me if I’m wrong) metaphor of ‘duvet of grey clouds in the sky’. Like you, I had an action packed day yesterday with the best gym session I’ve had in quite a while. I’m also currently ‘hibernating’ inside my studio with my dissertation for company. Oh, and that socca pizza looks pretty yummy!
Great minds and all that! I hope you had a productive day with your dissertation. 🙂
Your salted caramel candle sounds gorgeous Jemma, especially on a grim day like today! I used to eat soo much nut butter but I tend to find I go through phases with it – I love it at the moment but don’t feel the need to eat the entire tub! Frozen berries are a different matter though 😉
I’m the same with nut butters and there are times when I get a bit OTT. It will always be part of my life regardless though…love it too much!
It is definitely a day for snuggling in the warm! It’s so dark and miserable! I’m loving hazelnut butter at the min.
Ahhh hazelnut butter. I haven’t had that in a whole, must change that.
oooh the dessert looks yummy – It’s pouring with rain here today so what did I decide to do after two days in bed with a nasty cold virus?! Go for a run of course and strangely managed to get 40 seconds off my time.
x
Wow, that’s amazing considering you are ill. Hope you are feeling better.
I feel I need to hunt these candles down- are they Yankee Candles perchance?
Of course, they ate gorgeous!
When I start eating chocolate I could easily keep going. I have to break squares off, put it away and then start munching otherwise I’m stood in the kitchen with a huge bar in my hands and it doesn’t go well haha.
Some delicious looking food!
O my gosh, your breakfast looks amazing!!!
Thank you!
Yogurt is featuring quite a lot in my diet right now and soup!
