Through the years I’ve had quite the journey where my relationship with food is concerned. However, over time I have slowly learnt what works best for me.
Rather than going the whole hog and having a diet that is solely made up of sugar and takeaways or being restrictive, I have shunned the word diet and tried to adopt a healthy balance. My diet tends to be well rounded full of protein, wholegrain carbohydrates, good fats and a shed loads of veggies and fruit. Of course there is always room for cake and chocolate in my diet, but I tend to have theses in moderation. My body seems to respond well to balance and this works just fine for me.
One thing that I have learnt is that “one mans meat is another man’s poison,” and this can easily be applied to what is best for our bodies when seeking a healthier lifestyle. There are lots of other things out there high protein and low carb diets, Paleo diet, Low GI, the list is endless.
There is so much information out there in regards to what should be considered the best way to become healthy. At the end of the day we are all individuals and I think its all about finding what works for you. The media constantly get on my nerves- they are quick to jump on the latest fad diet, but they fail to explain is that this will not work for everyone. At the moment I am in a good place where my health and body image is concerned, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s working well for me.
How do you feel about the media and their “one size fits all” approach to healthy eating?
Do you think you feel that you have found that works for you?

I try to ignore the media basically! Every week there are scare stories about certain things that will cause cancer, etc etc. One day carbs are good, one day they are bad, same with fats. I think a natural diet is the healthiest, and then within those natural foods choose foods that work for you. I hate the “good/ bad” food labels because things are fine in moderation, balance is key, and also I think it is an unhealthy mindset to think about “being good” and eating salad or whatever.
sweet blog! i really know what you mean about the media! 5//2 diets, paleo, blah blah! it really bothers me and distracts me from what I’m doing to try and get healthy sometimes… you deffo have do what works for you and i’m learning that is an ongoing process xxx
I don’t think I follow a diet. I tend to eat what I like and usually that’s unite healthy food, like lots of veggies, fruit, whole grains and protein. I have such a sweet tooth so I have to watch I don’t let it get out of control but also don’t stop myself from having treats. I hate the “all or nothing” approach the media always has with diets. The more extreme the better it seems. It’s whatever sells I guess.
