So now we are officially in autumn, I love this season. There have been some sunny spells this week, but I’ve definitely felt a chill in the air come evening time. Weather this fickle really makes it hard to get dressed in the morning and you can run the risk of wearing too much or too little.

Wearing layers is a favourite way of mine to tackle the weather issue.  I can wear a t-shirt, cardigan and scarf with jeans and remove layers if I get too hot during the day.  It’s also a great way to get experimental with fashion and layer up different prints, patterns and styles.  I’ve done some internet window shopping and picked out some pieces that I think can be layered up together or would look as good by themselves.

 layering

1. Gold metallic cocoon cardigan, River Island

2. Woven tube scarf, H&M

3. Silk bib detail premium shirt, Topshop

4. Black printed drop pocket 3/4 kimono, New Look

5. Long sleeve breton, Boden

6. Dark vintage Baxter jeans, Topshop

7. Browm tall boots, Aldo

8.  Self heart jumper, Oliver Bonas

9. Guilford satchel, Acessorize

10. Smart catch belt trench coat, French Connection

I love the idea of having a capsule wardrobe full of staple pieces that you can mix and match. My autumn staples always include a good pair of boots, coat, blazer, basic t-shirts, flowy shirt, tea dresses, skinny jeans, striped tops, scarves, jumpers and cardigans – pretty much everything that I’ve included above.  The patterned kimono is really pretty and something that I would definitely wear to inject some colour into an outfit and the same for the Oliver Bonas jumper too.
