Maxi dresses have always been a favourite of mine in summer and now even more so. They are definitely going to be a staple item in my wardrobe over the next few months during my pregnancy. I love how effortlessly stylish they are and more importantly comfortable.
At the Baby Show that I attended last weekend there were hundreds of mama’s to be showing off their bumps, pride of place in a pretty maxi dresses and sandals. I personally love the practicality of them and the flowy, earth mother look that some of them lend to an outfit of the day. Since then I have ordered a couple more maxi dresses to mix in with the one’s I already have, which should keep my bump looking stylish for the summer:
Cream floral maxi dress, Dorothy Perkins// Patterned maxi dress, H&M
Of course, maxi dresses can suit all body shapes and sizes. I know that petite ladies tend to be put off by them, but perhaps a midi length would feel more comfortable and give the same look as a maxi dress. I’m a little bit in love with them at the moment and cannot wait for some more sunshine to come our way. Here are some of my favourites that I have shortlisted from my internet window shopping:

1. Stripe maxi dress, H&M
2. Linea Aztec maxi dress, Warehouse
3. Parisian neon orange ruched maxid dress, New Look
4. Pink, blue, purple maxi dress, Debenhams
5. Strappy cross back maxi dress, Topshop
6. Palm print maxi dress, Oasis
7. Maxi dress with frill, H&M
8. Low back maxi dress, Topshop
9. Cream floral belt maxi dress, New Look
I love the Aztec print dress from Warehouse, it would look great with chunky bracelets and wedges for a dressed up look and equally as good with flip-flops for a more casual appeal. Simple and plain maxi dresses are great for just throwing on in the morning and because they are so basic, you can style them up with accessories to make them more your own. Obviously, I love the stripy number from H&M too and I’m actually considering buying it, a girl can never have too many stripes – my bank balance is going to hate me!
Have a lovely weekend everyone, fingers crossed for some lovely sunshine!
What staples are part of your wardrobe this summer? Are you a fan of the maxi dress?

I wish I suited maxi dresses, I’m far too short 🙁 My favourite is a petite one that I bought from Next ages ago.

Have you ever thought a midi dress, they might be perfect for your frame? 🙂
Love your style! The Aztec maxi dress is my favourite from your picks, beautiful!
I love a maxi dress just not on me, I don’t think they suit me at all but I haven’t tried one in ages maybe I’ll see it differently now…
I really like the Aztec print one too! But my guess is, none of these would be long enough on me. Every maxi dress/skirt I’ve tried on is too short on me. 🙁 Tall girl probs, haha!
Happy long weekend Jemma, hope you, Alfie and bump have a fabulous one!
I always feel I’m too short to wear maxi dresses but love seeing them on other people.
Ooo love the red Topshop one! Although I’m trying to avoid skinny straps at the mo as I never feel very good in them when actually wearing them :/
At least you’re not buying designer maxi dresses! I think you’re being very economical, practically making money 😉
Love maxi dresses, yet to find one that fights me perfect though as I’m short.

Maxi dresses are just lovely, pregnant or not! So many beautiful patterns and styles out there. And perfect for summer. Can’t wait to get mine out again.
Oh I’m a bit fan of the maxi dress. I bought my first last Summer and a few more have made their way into my wardrobe since then! New Look and Primary are great for relatively inexpensive dresses and both stores have a lot of choice too.
I find that too many maxi dresses have that annoying elasticated by around the waist and they don’t end up looking very flattering.
