Right now I’m dreaming of a far away beach with white sands, clear blue waters, palm trees and beautiful sunsets.  Instead I’m sitting at my desk beavering away with work.  I’m not sure if we will manage a holiday abroad this year, especially with a bambino on the way, but a girl can dream right?

Honestly I do find beachwear daunting.  I’m never sure what to wear on the beach, obviously a swimsuit of sorts, but there are some ladies that really go to town, extremely stylised and put together.  Generally, it’s a bikini, cover up and flip-flops for me, something easy and faff free. Others tend to treat the beach like a fashion runway (not that there is nothing wrong with that!) and dress like they are going out, accessories and all.  I’ve put together a little collection of some of the things that have caught my eye to help create a lovely outfit for the beach.

Normally I go straight for bikinis, but I’m adoring the 1950’s style swimsuits that are around at the moment, super cute!  I also love the big style sunglasses even though they wouldn’t necessarily suit the shape of my face. Also, I think kimonos make a lovely alternative as a cover up on the beach, something a bit different to the usual sarong or kaftan.  Now I think I might sneakily check out the last-minute holiday deals, well you never know eh?

What do you like to wear to the beach?  Do you make an effort with your beach outfit? I always pick out a cute bikini and perhaps a sun-dress and flip flops, but that’s about as far as it goes for me.
