I’ve come to the conclusion that I love having the weekends off!  Lazy mornings, coffee dates, shopping trips, catching up with friends and family and pottering in the kitchen- what’s not to love!

Not only am I enjoying my new job as it frees up my weekends but I’m really enjoying my work.  It all felt a little bit daunting at first, meeting lots of new people, a completely different field of work, working in London and a new routine, but I’ve been completely sucked into the job. It feels like I have been there longer than a week already, in a good way.

Talking of new routines commuting to the city means that my workout routine has had to undergo a reshuffle of sorts. I knew it was going to be slightly off this week with starting my new job.

Monday: Rounders

Tuesday: REST

Wednesday: 20 minutes of HIITs on the cross trainer and treadmill, lower and upper body workout, abs, 10 minutes HIITS on the bike.

Thursday: 20 minutes walk to work from my car and 20 minutes walking back

Friday: 20 minutes walk to work from my car and 20 minutes walking back

Saturday: 20 minutes of HIITs on the cross trainer and treadmill, lower  body workout, abs, 10 minutes HIITS on the bike.

Sunday: press ups, lunges, tricep dips, lunges, 20 minute yoga flow.

If anything this week has taught me to broaden my boundaries where exercise is concerned. I often forget that exercise doesn’t have to consist of slogging it out in the gym or going for a run.  The rounders game on Bank Holiday Monday was a fantastic form of exercise.  Not only that I have started to park my car further away from the office so I get a brisk walk in before and after work, love it!

This week has also been a great week of food and I’ve really been enjoying lots of fresh fruit and veggies, more  so than usual.

There has been lots of almond and maple green smoothies for breakfasts in the car this week.

To make this you need one banana, spinach, a squeeze of maple syrup, lots of almond butter and almond milk.  This tastes fantastic and kept me full for hours.

Another favourite breakfast this week was toasted sour dough bread.  I had one slice topped with butter and blueberry jam and the other with crunchy peanut butter and strawberries, yum!

Of course lots of salad was eaten this week, it wouldn’t be me otherwise.  This is one that I’ve had on repeat all week and even had it for dinner with some plantain as above.  It included curly lettuce, cherry tomatoes, peppers, red onion and organic feta cheese.

The slow cooker has been in action again this week and I made some Chinese char shui pulled pork which I had with steamed green beans and a baked sweet potato topped with butter.  That pulled pork was amazing and I will be posting the recipe tomorrow.

On my trip to Wholefoods last weekend I picked up some Coyo coconut milk yoghurt and I’ve been enjoying it all week.  Fresh grapes and strawberries Coyo and crushed hazelnuts is amazing together!

Yesterday for lunch I made a lovely mushroom, feta and mushroom omelet with some salad on the side.  All the feta went all gooey and melty, so good!

Whilst out we pooped to TK Maxx to look for some bits to fill up our very empty bookcase.  There wasn’t much for the bookcase but I didn’t leave empty handed.

I bought some baby blue Birkenstocks, love the colour!  Then I was very impressed (maybe a bit too much) by a BPA free salad box that has a self-contained knife and fork set and salad dressing container and a BPA free microwaveable soup mug. A little while ago I picked up a BPA free smoothie cup from TK Maxx and think it’s fab so getting the salad box and soup mug was a no-brainer.

This week has really opened my eyes regarding the variety of different exercises out there. Perhaps I have been a little bit restrictive with my workouts and seemingly sticking to the same things.  Seriously the rounders game was so much fun and I didn’t even realise I was exercising and it’s great being outside so getting those walks in before and after work is great.

Are you quite restrictive in the types of exercises your routine contains? Would you be open to try non-conventional types of exercise such as dancing, rounders or even trampolining?
