[EPISODE 5] Breaking free of the societal expectations of motherhood

If you’d like to find out more about the Flourish group coaching workshop I mentioned at the start of the episode you can find out more here.

I just had to talk about this topic in this week’s episode (I couldn’t help myself) and it’s JUICY. The societal expectations and pressures of what a mum “should” be are immense and can massively impact our mental and emotional health. If you’re feeling weighed down by the “shoulds” and thinking that you’re not good enough to be a mum, get this episode in your ear holes because it’s just for you.

I hope this episode serves up a reminder that if you need to take a step back or are struggling, it’s OK to rest or ask for help.  There is no shame in that and you shouldn’t feel like a failure for needing to do so. You’re doing your best and that’s good enough.

In this episode I dive into:

  • External pressures and the expectation of mums
  • The consequences of trying to live up to these societal expectations
  • Hustle culture and worth being tied up in productivity
  • Why you shouldn’t feel like a failure for asking for help

Tag me over on Instagram if you enjoyed this episode or if anything resonated with you. I’d love to hear if your own experiences of societal expectations and how it has impacted your motherhood journey.

Don’t forget that you can also join the Reclaiming MUM community over on Facebook. Come on in!
