Let’s be honest, maternity fashion hasn’t had the best reputation in the past. Frumpy and frills come to mind, but thankfully a lot has changed since then. I’ve recently been filling my wardrobe with more clothes that are suited to pregnancy. In most instances I’ve just been buying normal clothes which are loose and flowy in the fit, however in some cases I’ve had no choice but to check out the maternity fashion. So far I have bought a couple of maternity tops and jeans – it’s great knowing that I have lots of clothes to wear throughout my pregnancy.
I decided a long time ago that I wanted to breast feed our baby due to its major health benefits for mother and baby and the close bond it can create between the two of you. So far, I haven’t really opted for maternity bras, I’ve just been buying normal bras in a bigger size. However, I was totally ecstatic when I was sent some maternity and nursing wear from BoobDesign to trial and review for the blog. I was sent the Fast Food nursing bra and knicker set and the Lois nursing tee.
First up for me to trial was the underwear, which I have been very impressed with. They are extremely comfortable and to be honest it doesn’t even feel like I’m wearing a bra when I put it on. Both parts of the set are designed to grow with you throughout pregnancy and the bra is specifically for nursing. The size of the bra can be altered with the additional hook and eye ribbon, to accommodate changes in size, which is frequent whilst nursing. Both items have been through the laundry and they wash very well and keep their shape.
Here I am wearing the Lois maternity top. I’m a little bit in love with nautical stripes, especially at this time of year. This particular top is made from 95% organic cotton and 5% elastane to give that extra stretch in the material. I’m not sure if you can see it all that well in the picture, but there is actually a hidden flap a 1/3 of the way down the top for nursing discreetly. It fits perfectly and comfortably around my little bump and there is enough stretch for it to grow with me too.
I’m genuinely impressed with this brand. They have some lovely items on their online store such as the Carmen nursing camisole, nursing vests, nursing hoodie and the Tomika long nursing dress. BoobDesign is a true testament that maternity and nursing wear can be both fashionable and practical. Have you tried any of the items from BoobDesign? What did you think?
Do you have a favourite maternity brand? If you are not expecting, do you have a favourite brand that is both fashionable and practical?

You look lovely, and the bra sounds great that you can’t feel it, and sounds so practical too!
Love the stripes, I have a huge weakness for a good stripe!

Thank you! 🙂 I’m a huge fan of stripes too.
I have the opposite- often I find something I like and then realise I have wandered into the maternity section without realising!
Those clothes sound very practical 🙂
Hahaha! I have done that before too. I think that it has happened to us all at some point. 🙂
It’s nice to hear that the maternity clothes are fashionable and pretty, especially underwear. I had visions of horrific underwear that looks like something from the 19th century! Hehe. But I’m glad there is more choice out there.
Hahaha! That’s what I thought too, but there is some really pretty stuff out there. 🙂
These sound great and you are looking so glowy!
Awww thank you Dana!
I love that top – it looks great on you 🙂
Great review, you look lovely!

Very stylish top and underwear. It is reassuring that you still have plenty of choice when pregnant. I like the idea of a hidden flap in the top as well, and you can’t really notice it which is great.
