This week has been tough in terms of getting back in to the swing of things!
I definitely think that going back to work when your office is home is far more difficult than when you have to leave the house to go to the office. There has been much temptation to have long leisurely breakfasts, afternoons reading in the garden or just a sneaky lie in. To combat this, there has been lots of breakfasts at my desk to kick-start my day of work like this bowl of fresh watermelon, 2% Greek yoghurt, pumpkin seeds and almond butter. Loving water melon still, so much that I bought a massive whole watermelon to keep my belly satisfied this week.
Even though I didn’t go totally over board on holiday, I’ve been trying to get back in to my normal eating habits:
It was raining cats and dogs yesterday and I fancied a baked sweet potato topped with cheese and a spinach side salad for lunch…so comforting!
After quite a successful week back to work I was definitely in the mood to relax come Friday. I settled down with The Devil Wears Prada some fresh cherries and organic dark chocolate for my movie munchies. I always find that I need to nibble on something during a film and these both really hit the spot!
Salads have been a staple this week, especially in the humidity. I’ve been having all sorts of combinations but this mixed leaves, tomatoes, garlic and pepper cheese, spring onion, chickpeas, avocado and chick pea one with balsamic was my favourite.
Another way to get more veggie dense meals is stir fries and I loved this ginger and soy chicken one. It had so much flavour and I loved all of the vibrant colours.
Ahhh…more watermelon with blueberries and rice cakes, one topped with cashew butter and the other with Nutella, yum!
Other than green smoothies I’ve also been enjoying overnight oats. Overnight oats are the perfect way to still enjoy porridge oats without the heat. I soaked my oats in unsweetened almond milk and added blueberries, nectarines, cashew nuts, and chia seeds.
This banana, peanut butter and date green smoothie was delicious and went with my buck wheat cereal and nectarine so well. Sometimes I just don’t know what to have for breakfast so it’s nice to have a bit of a buffet instead.
My workouts this week have looked like this:
Monday – REST
Tuesday – 30 minute walk
Wednesday – morning gym session (10 minutes gentle cardio and strength routine – bicep curls, shoulder presses, chest presses, squats against the wall and weighted bum raises, plus yoga stretches)
Thursday – 30 minute walk
Friday – REST
Saturday –REST
Sunday – Walking and prenatal yoga
Getting back into the swing of things has been hard on the fitness front so I’ve just been going with the flow. We did a lot of walking in holiday so I’ve been enjoying that this week rather than going to the gym. I’m hoping to get back into more of a routine next week.
So this week I’m 33 weeks pregnant…only 7 weeks to go until my due date! Time is going by so fast and thankfully we have pretty much finished getting the essentials for him. It’s now time to concentrate on myself. I’ve been buying bits for my hospital bag, although babies are full term at 37 weeks they are viable at 34 weeks and can generally come anytime after that…eeek!
I purchased this cute nautical cushion from The Crafty Fox Boutique on Etsy for him to sit on the antique rocking chair that I bought a while back, which I’ve had personalised. I’ve seen so many cute soft furnishings for him that it’s hard to resist and not buy it all.
Whilst on holiday I experienced my first tightening around my bump and there was lots of pressure too. It went really hard and solid and I had to rest for a while until it passed. I’m guessing that this may be my first Braxton Hicks contraction. It was a little sore but not painful, just took me by surprise. Nice to know that my body is preparing itself for this big adventure we’re embarking on very soon.
There has been mega amounts of movement still, which I love and he has become very responsive to music and when I touch my belly. He was moving against Alfie’s hand the other day when we were playing songs to him almost like he was dancing to the beat. So cute!
The sun is shining here this morning, so I’m looking forward to a lovely day in the sunshine and a productive day of cleaning. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!
Do you find it hard to get back to the old routine after a holiday? What are your favourite movie munchies?

Love your buffet breakfast! It’s so nice to be able to have a mixture of everything.
My ‘guilty pleasure’ when I go to the cinema to see a film is to get a Diet Coke, something I know is so full of crap I don’t usually want in my body but is a nice treat occasionally!!
I totally agree that when you work from home sometimes it’s really difficult to find the motivation to do things. When I got back from my week away it took me about a fortnight to settle back into my routine (and even now it’s still all over the place lol).
Hope you have a lovely week 😀
Louise x
Your first breakfast looks incredible, I never would have thought about putting watermelon and almond butter together though, I feel like my world has been revolutionised!
I am looking forward to lots of fruit and salady type meals after having to cram lots of dense rubbishy food in during my long race this weekend. I also have treated myself to a watermelon which I can’t wait to munch on at lunch today!
Lovely tasty and healthy meals there – some great inspiration for breakfasts especially. I love the idea of cashews in the morning oats – will definitely give that a try.
Some lovely food ideas there – all looking so vibrant and healthy – I often think good food really does shout eat me!
It is quite tough to get back into routine after a holiday, usually takes a week or so to get back into the swing of things.
It is so hard to get back into the swing of things! Your meal photos look amazing, I’ll need to try some of those things. Yay for only having 7 weeks left!
Your breakfasts look so good! x
I love the breakfast on your desk trick. That would get me to work fast!
I work from home and I totally agree. It is hard to stay on task. You are so amazing to be eating that well and even exercising at 33 weeks. I thought I was dying at time. You’re amazing.
I love steel cut oats, but I can never seem to make them right – I need to try this soaked version! And I’m with you on the watermelon – give me some watermelon with feta and I am a HAPPY girl.
All of your food looks so good!!! I agree it is harder when you work at home to get back into it.
This looks like a great selection with so many healthy yet delicious options. A lot of whole foods here too! I am a fool for cashews and healthy fats.
Oh gosh, I am so jealous of all the amazing / healthy food that you eat! I have been in a total food rut and it’s bad!
I want that baked sweet potato right now! ::grabby paws:: And all your fruit just looks so amazing. 🙂
Lovely looking meals Jemma, I’m also looking at that choc and cherry film snack with envy haha! Seven weeks to go, how exciting! That cushion is gorgeous 🙂
Haha! Chocolate and cherries is one of the best combos 🙂
I agree, working from home can make it difficult at time to get into work mode.
I’ve never tried almond butter. Is it yummy?
Oh it’s lovely! If you love snacking on almonds I think you would like it.
Hands down ice cream is my favourtie movie munchies…but I can’t do that every time I watch a film hehe. I like having a nice hot chocolate though.
I’m obsessed with watermelon right now – so tasty and refreshing and you can just eat and eat and eat…
I’ve been eating loads of water melon too – perfect for this warmer weather! 🙂
Yummy! I should definitely visit your blog on a full stomach because you sure make me drool all over my keyboard! I need to try almond butter! I can’t believe I have not tried it yet. Those nautical pillows are just too stinkin’ cute! <3
Your breakfast has given me ideas for my breakfast this week. Btw I am yet to try a salad which contains avocado lol, yours looks delicious.
It’s so hard to maintain any sense of normalcy when working from home… I hear ya, girl! 🙂 Love your meal suggestions. I’ve been clean & raw for a week now and I tell ya how much better I feel! I love munching on some cinnamon and honey roasted chickpeas, or some grilled peaches… or kale chips! Those are some of my favorite indulgences when watching late night movies. 😉
Oh my, all this food looks so tasty! Rice cakes with chocolate is my weakness. It’s so yummy. All the fruit too! mmmm.
Katie <3
Cherries and chocolate? I die. That looks so good. Seems like you know how to be healthy and enjoy the good life. My kind of gal!
What great looking meals. I love a nice salad.
That pillow is so sweet! I love nautical themed things! 🙂
I struggle with working from home, too!! I am so excited for you for your baby boy 🙂
You are an inspiration to me. I really need to work on eating healthier.
These all look so yummy, it making hungry. 7 weeks left you must getting so excited about meeting your little one 🙂
Lots of amazing food ideas! Now I have a lot of ideas of what to eat this week!
7 weeks does not sound like long to go!
I think a routine is the best thing after a holiday- usually I am back to work so I have no choice, but at the moment work is locked up, so I have work to do at home but when I want, so I am taking it a bit easier!
