In collaboration with Arla.
While out and about on a family shopping trip at the weekend we popped into Costa for a pitstop to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the busy shops. Also, we thought it was a nice idea to treat ourselves to some hot drinks as it was pretty chilly outside and you can be sure that we couldn’t resist their cake counter, which is always full of temptation.
Other than a hot chocolate and the seasonal special drinks on the menu, a staple of mine on a Costa visit is their chai latte. At this time of year I just love the warm spices and always ask for extra cinnamon to be sprinkled on top of the froth because you can never have enough in my opinion. So that was my order sorted before we even stepped a foot through the door. We got a children’s hot chocolate for Aiden and Alfie ordered a caramel latte. Of course, we could not go without cake and after eyeing up the blueberry muffins we had a couple of those too.
The barista made my chai latte using Arla Lactofree milk that is now available in all Costa’s nationwide. Honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference between a chai latte made with regular milk and Lactofree milk, which can be easier to digest because it doesn’t contain lactose – perfect for those who maybe lactose intolerant or have a sensitive gut. I thought that Lactofree tasted just as good as regular milk and there was no unusual aftertaste to my chai latte as a result of using the different milk.

What’s your favourite milk based drink to order? Have you tried Lactofree before?

I don’t tend to go to coffee shops but it’s great to know they are starting to cater to people with restricted diets.
That’s great they’re serving lacto free, we tend to go for totally dairy free but I love that there are so many options like this now.
I think it’s good that more places are doing lactose free choices. I don’t think I’ve tried a chai latte though x
I use soya milk but must try Lactofree. I like a soya cappuccino normally, I’ve tried almond milk too and its ok. Good to know Costa offers Lactofree milk
I love a chai latte, it’s always my go-to order when I buy a coffee at Costa! The lacto-free option is great, I’ll have to let my boyfriend know because he’s lactose intolerant.
It is great that allergy’s and dietary options are being considered and are now becoming much more choice driven xx
I love that so many places are offering diary free and lactofree options now. Especially as that lactofree chai latte looks amazing! x
I am lactose-free too and love Arla but mostly use almond milk or oat milk which are also pretty good alternatives. Need to pop into Costa soon.
I love that more and more places are being more accommodating to those with allergies. It’s brilliant.
