Gone are the days of having to track your fitness using the now old-fashioned pen and paper. There are so many gizmos and gadget that have bought tracking your workout progress into the 21st Century.
Keeping a record of your workouts can be a great motivator and allows you to see if you’re challenging your body enough week to week. It’s so easy to carry on doing the same workouts, but if you’re not shaking up your routine every few weeks then you’re not going to see the results that you want.
I used to keep a record of my workouts and how I was feeling it a little notebook that I would take with me to the gym, but now I have a Garmin Vivofit that looks great on my wrist and takes the faff out of carrying something extra and writing things down while working out.
There’s so much technology out there at the moment to enable yo to get the most from your workouts. Here are some fancy fitness gadgets that caught my eye:
1. Garmin Vivofit
I do love a challenge and the Garmin Vivofit tracks your daily movements and sets a target based on this for the following day so that you’re constantly being pushed towards your fitness goals. Slowly, but surely you will reach your milestones and achieve a healthier lifestyle without even realising it.
2. Strava
Now that I’m training for the Reading Half Marathon I’ve been on the look out for a fitness app to record my runs and Strava has been great so far. It’s so easy to use and you can upload your data from your Garmin or phone to keep track of your progress and compare your previous runs to your recent performances.
3. Umoro One
This is such a nifty gadget and such a lovely gift for your fitness junkie friends. In the lid is a storage compartment where you can stash your protein powder of choice. With a push of a button, the Umoro One releases 1.5 scoops of protein powder into the water below, making it the perfect workout companion for a post-workout refuel.
4. Nike Lightweight Tech Running Gloves
Unlike most running gloves, these ones by Nike are touch screen compatible. It can be really annoying having to keep taking your gloves on and off to work your phone so these are a Godsend for that reason.
5. Fitbug Air
The Fitbug Air acts works like a regular pedometer, but this new version can be synced to your phone and tablet via Bluetooth technology and lets you be in charge of your daily targets and goals.
Do you have any fitness gadgets to help you workout? What’s on your fitness gadget wishlist?

I went for a run last night and had really chilly hands so I’m going to have to look at those Nike gloves! Great tips thanks for sharing 🙂
Those Nike gloves look fab! 🙂
I use my fitbit all the time and it’s really made me think about how much exercise I do. I’ll be intrigued to see how much I do when I go for runs or long walks. The Umoro one bottle looks interesting though, although I use more pre-workout than protein powder x
I think that they really get you thinking about how much you actually move during the day. Glad you like yours!
I have that exact Garmin and I love it. Seeing how many steps I have done, or not done, each day is really motivating. I am definitely walking more because of it.
It definitely gets you moving more. I like that it challenges you everyday.
Hi there Jemma, nice list of gadgets there. I have used both Garmin and Fitbur and all I can say is that they are both great, but Garmin ends up being my favorite gadgets that I can hardly live without. Thanks a lot for the share and keep up the good work here.
Cindy
Lovely to hear that you get on so well with yours Cindy. Do you use it everyday?
I love my Viviofit and I’m also on Strava and Garmin Connect. Although these two track all my runs, I also like to blog about them so I can look back and see what went well/didn’t go so well and what kit I wore for my workouts.
Definitely, a good point about Strava is the fact that you can go back and look at your performance and use the analytics for blog posts etc. Great to hear that you love your Vivofit too, it’s a fab piece of kit!
I love Strava! I used to use another website to track my monthly mileage, but I think Strava is so much better. I love seeing the weekly and monthly miles add up, plus it’s so easy to look back at old routes, compare runs on the same route and so on.
Umoro One looks is a great idea! I used to take the protein container in the car with me and dish it out before going to work… but now another gadget to solve my first world problems lol.
Thanks for the post!
