Hands up if you went a little crazy in the Black Friday sales…ME!  I totally got sale fever and spent a lot of time with my face stuck in my laptop on Friday.  A part of me is wondering how my eyes didn’t actually turn into squares and another part of me is feeling rather smug that I made a lovely big dent in the Christmas shopping as well as picking out some treats for myself too.  My bank balance probably isn’t feeling quite as smug, in fact, it probably hates me but I’m happy with my purchases and it’s been a while since I splurged like that, it felt good!

All shopped out not having to leave my house was great, I did remember to peel myself away from the sofa eventually and made a wonderful salad pictured above with rocket, pecans, cranberries, lentils, pear and feta.

Butternut squash soup has also been on the cards for easy lunches this week, this isn’t my recipe but from the Glorious soup range.  We had some black pepper Ryvita Thins leftover from a cheeseboard that we had a little while ago, so they were great to have on the side instead of bread for a change.

I’ll never get tired of avocado on toast, especially since I discovered a loaf of bread made up from my two favourite bread types, rye and sourdough, absolutely delicious!

A bit of a random salad made up of what we had left over in the fridge before the grocery shop was delivered…we’ve all been there! Rocket, half a can of tuna, feta, pomegranate seeds that had seen better days and leftover curried potatoes from dinner the night before.

This, my friends, is the new crack in my life, Marshmallow Fluff!  I’ve seen it the supermarket loads of times but never thought to try it.  I was offered to try it for the blog and OMG it’s addicted.  Sadly,  there isn’t that  much of this jar left or maybe that’s a good thing because it will stop me reaching for my spoon and digging right in.

MY MOVES THIS WEEK

IMG_5613

  • Monday – Rest
  • Tuesday – Rest
  • Wednesday – 45-minute brisk walk
  • Thursday – 20-minute total body workout (no weights)
  • Friday – Rest
  • Saturday – 70-minute brisk walk
  • Sunday – Yoga for Runners Podcast

At the beginning of the week, I really felt that I needed 2 days of rest and really happy that I made that decision because I think it allowed me to enjoy the rest of the weeks workouts even more.  Taking a break was a fantastic reminder not to put any pressure on myself to workout.  I’m getting back into exercise slowly and if I don’t feel like it then who cares?  This is my version of healthy after all and it’s working well for me at the moment I know I’m doing the best I can and that’s all that matters.

Yesterday we walked into town along the beach for a chai latte and back home again and it didn’t even feel like a workout, loved it!  I think we will be taking regular walks into town in the future, it’s so beautiful walking right beside the sea.

Did you buy anything in the Black Friday sales?  Are you all prepared for Christmas already?

What is the most random thing you have made to eat with the leftovers in your fridge before doing the weekly food shop?
