So another month has evaporated into thin air and we are all set to move out of our beloved cottage today. I’m so excited about our new home and yet full of trepidation too. We’re moving further south to beautiful Dorset and swapping the countryside for the coast. I mean just look at the scenery I have been blessed with for the past 3 years (pictured above!). Although I’m looking forward to seeing what our new stomping ground will have to offer I feel sad to leave my network of mummy friends (who are already arranging visits and play dates) and moving further away from my family. If it wasn’t for our little man I don’t think I would be feeling this way, leaving his first ever home is emotional for me, but to be fair we have outgrown our cottage now and it was probably time to move on.
This month has been very chaotic as we prepared to move house, but still try to keep a snippet of normality for Aiden, plus working too. My word for the month was MINIMISE and I sure have done that! I was completely ruthless with my wardrobe and house clear out and really inspired by the idea of essentialist living. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying has made it into my Amazon basket and I’m currently rebuilding my wardrobe with well thought out pieces, rather than the heap that was in there before. Plenty has been sold, binned and given to charity and I feel so much better for it. I’m ready to move into our new place with less baggage and a clearer mind.
What I Got Up To In September
We made a very exciting purchase this month and bought a new family car. It’s far more roomier than our small hatchback and the perfect upgrade to cart all of Aiden’s things. Not going to lie, I am a bit in love with our new ride, its gorgeous!
Planners have revolutionised my working day and how I approach tasks, they’re so cool. With that back to school vibe that seems to come with September I’m so happy that I introduced planners into my daily routine last month, plus, who doesn’t like beautiful stationery?
I’m so blessed with amazing friends and I always enjoy meeting up with my mummy friends – we have the best lunches and laughs! This bulgar wheat and aubergine salad was epic!
One of the things that I just love about autumn is the wonderful produce that is available. Figs are back on the shelves and I’ve eaten them like a mad woman, so good!
On Saturday my little man turns 1, I can’t believe how fast the time has gone. We threw an early nautical themed birthday party for him before we moved. It was such a special day, his sandcastle cake was adorable and tasted just as good as it looks.
On the blog I shared my recipes for my Spinach & Tomato Tortilla Egg Cups, Greens & Beans Buddha Bowl and Almond Matcha Cookies which are great for a healthy afternoon energy boost. Go and check them out if you haven’t already.

My word for October would have to be EMBRACE. Personally, the best way to deal with a major change is to embrace it and have confidence that the universe is steering me in the right direction. Full of nervousness and excitement about what is new on the horizon I’m eager to start making the new house our home and settle in to our new life in Dorset.

I love the sound of a blog planner. I’ve seen lots of bloggers mention them. Where did you get yours from?
I love these kinds of posts 🙂 I am rather envious of your new car- ours has just died and we need to save up before we can get a new one! I love your word for October, I am just coming to the end of my PhD and starting a new job, embrace is definitely the word for my October too!
Congratulations on 5 years of blogging! That’s a pretty long time so well done!
I’ve been to Dorset and it’s really nice there, I probably wouldn’t mind living there, it’s defnitely better than the West Midlands.
I can understand all the excitement of settling into new place, I believe it’s not easy but it’s only in the beginning when it feels like that.. I will probably be in the same situation next year, well I hope!
I NEED that car like now. I hope you have a great day with little man turning 1 and I hope the move goes well too.
I’ve been using a planner all year and it’s definitely helped me feel more in control. I’ve enjoyed watching planner videos, using planner stickers and decorating my planner. A fun new hobby that the kids love to emulate, especially when it comes to nicking Mummy’s washi tape or stickers. I read The Life-changing Magic of Tidying over the summer and immediately changed my approach to the stuff in our house. The kids were pretty game too and after they decided to join in by sorting their rooms, they seemed empowered. I was pretty amazed to see what they elected to keep/throw away.
I love the new car too its lovely .Happy birthday to your little one, the cake looks awesome.
Love all of this! Happy birthday little man, and that salad looks SO good!!
