Wednesday saw me turn another year older and even though I’m now one year away from 30 I’m not feeling as depressed as I thought I would. When I was 21, turning 30 sounded like the worst thing EVER, the end of the world!  How melodramatic was I?  Actually, right now I couldn’t be happier with my life as I think I’ve achieved so much and have a lot to be thankful for that there is no reason to feel sad about getting older.  I celebrated turning 29 with a big fat wedge of birthday cake, just like all birthday’s should be celebrated.

My breakfasts this week have been influenced by the lighter sunny mornings we have had.  This lovely breakfast was a great start to my Sunday last week and included full-fat Greek yoghurt, blackberries, avocado, pumpkin seeds, almonds and honey

I had a little extra time in the morning on Friday and fancied a smoothie in a bowl for breakfast.  I blended up spinach, banana, lucuma powder, coconut oil, unsweetened almond milk and vanilla protein powder topping it with Chocshot and raw hazelnut butter.

My go-to green smoothie tends to be spinach, peanut butter, banana, vanilla protein powder and unsweetened almond milk, which never seems to disappoint.  It’s so yummy!

This gorgeous salad was made up of leftover bits in the fridge before I did the weekly grocery shop. Spinach, chickpeas, edamame beans, spring onions and feta cheese, full of my favorite things.

For dinner this week I made a huge batch of chilli using organic mince beef.  I made so much that there was plenty left over for lunch the next day before our grocery delivery arrived.  I had some of the leftovers with some spinach, chickpeas, edamame beans and crumbled feta cheese.

Yesterday we had lunch at one of my new favourite places, The Milk Shed.  It was Alfie’s first time there and he really liked the vibe and feel of the place.  I had one of the specials from the board which was this grilled mackerel with toasted soda bread and rocket, yum!  The we had some of their homemade ice cream to share.  There were so many delicious flavours making it difficult to choose, but we eventually settled on salted caramel and honeycomb:

This quote really couldn’t sum up how I’m feeling about getting older any better…

QUOTE

I’ve had such a lovely birthday this year, made extra special by my baby boy.  Alfie has given me some money towards the new DSLR that I’ve got my eyes on so I can’t wait to get my hands on that, my little man bought me some perfume and my mum gave me some money to treat myself.  After more than 2 years of having my iPhone I went and smashed the screen on my birthday (such bad luck!) so as a birthday treat to myself I went and got myself the latest iPhone 6 – I’m such an apple geek!

We’re going out for a fancy meal tonight for a dual celebration because it was our 10 year anniversary on Friday…time really does fly.

I can’t believe that it’s Easter next week.  My healthy Easter chocolate giveaway ends later today so check it out if you haven’t already.  You can enter here.

How do you feel about getting older? Did you feel nervous about approaching 30?
