Hello, lovely people! How are your weekends shaping up? We’re having a bit of a Christmassy weekend over here. Yesterday we went shopping for our Christmas jumpers, a bit of a family tradition for us now, and went to pick out AJ’s Christmas outfits too. He’s going to look super cute all dressed up, even tough he will probably hate us for it when he’s older. Later, we are putting up the Christmas tree and wrapping presents whilst watching a Christmas movie, I can’t wait!
This week I treated myself to some Christmassy items as well as some added extras from Holland and Barrett. The sweet mince-pie filling is a must for me at this time of year and I cannot wait to try those dairy free snowmen. And how fantastic does the Christmas tea selection sound?! This really is the best time of the year!
Nothing seems better than porridge in the mornings these days and this bowl was lovely. I’ve experimented in the kitchen with a wonderful hot breakfast recipe that will be on the blog soon, but this really hit the spot too! It’s plain porridge oats made with unsweetened almond milk, organic natural yoghurt, figs, maple syrup, Chocshot and chopped almonds.
I’ve been snacking on these lovely Get Fruity bars that I have been sent to review this week and so far I’m really enjoying them, especially the mixed berry bar, yum.
My slow cooker has been put to good use this week and I made a super tasty coconut chicken curry in it complete with noodles and lots of vegetables. It’s great for dinner and the leftovers are good for lunch with cauliflower and broccoli florets that I steamed in the microwave.
Aiden and I have had some more lovely days out this week, including a trip to a baby sensory class where he had his hands in jelly among other stuff and was mesmerised by all the lights. We also popped along to our local baby cafe to spend some time with some other breastfeeding mamas. Afterwards, we went for usual weekly mama and son coffee date and I had a gingerbread latte and a cherry and almond muffin whilst Aiden enjoyed his milk.
Fitness wise I’ve actually got round to doing some form of exercise, lots of walking mainly but I did a killer ab workout the other day and loved it. I was hoping to get to the gym, but with all the Christmas cheer happening in our house today I don’t think I will make it, so I’ll be heading out for a walk instead. Anyway, my cinnamon swirls are baking in the oven and the house smells like a treat, breakfast is calling my name!
How do you like to get into the Christmas spirit? Do you have any family Christmas traditions?

I love gingerbread latte <3 so yummy. My family Christmas tradition is to go to St Martins cathedral in Birmingham and light candles to remember those not with us anymore x
That is such a beautiful family tradition. It’s so important to remember those who have sadly passed.
Mmmm cinnamon swirls sound amazing! I sometimes make them for breakfast on Christmas day.
They’re a lovely treat for Christmas day breakfast. I might steal that idea for myself. 🙂
Some lovely things mentioned in this post! I’ve been looking for dairy free items for a friend’s son’s Christmas gift so I’ll be heading off to H&B now, thank you!
Holland and Barrett have got some lovely things in at the moment, I’m sure you’ll find something there.
I love those hummus chips – they’ve started selling them in my work canteen which I’m not sure is a good or bad thing! x
I think I would always be eating them if I worked there, ha! 🙂
So lovely to hear of your outings – the sensory thing with the jelly sounds such an amazing experience!
Little Aiden loved it, although I think it’s a boy thing to like getting all messy.
It’s getting so Christmassy everywhere isn’t it! I do love this time of year. We had quite a festive weekend too with a party & our tree went up yesterday. I’ve never though of putting noodles in a curry before! I may have to experiment.
Sounds like a lovely weekend! The noodles make such a nice change to rice.
I hate porridge but I have to say, yours is looking rather good!
Ha, thanks Stephen!
Starting to feel quite festive now, we decorated our tree this evening, and it feels so cosy, and smells all Christmassy now!
Having the tree up makes such a difference. I’m going to hate taking it down come January.
I’m all about Christmas jumpers! Love them. We always make a Christmas cake each year is our tradition. I say “we” but Ben did it this year while I was in Berlin bless him. He’s a far better baker so it will be amaz’ng I’m sure.
Ha! I love your honesty Anna. I think Christmas jumpers are fab, some of them are a bit wacky though.
