Thankfully, how healthy living is defined today varies from person to person.  The majority of society has finally woken up (albeit there is still some progress to be made in some areas) to the fact that healthy living is subjective and has finally recognised that we are all individuals; I’m definitely a supporter of the ‘one size does not fit all’ movement.

I’ve previously blogged about the more non-everyday products that I like to use.  I do like to think of myself as an ‘amateur foodie’ and experimenting with different ingredients is all part of it; however I’m not convinced that fancy superfood powders are essential for a healthy lifestyle, which is open to opinion.  Let’s face it, they can be expensive and when I think back to earlier times I’m sure they weren’t sipping on wheatgrass shots or using protein powders.  Of course these more unusual products do have their place in healthy living, I do believe that their inherent healing and health properties are useful, but not necessarily essential.

my favourite products 1. Coconut oil//2. unsweetened almond milk//3. free range eggs//4. sweet potatoes//5. dark leafy greens//6. coconut water//7. dried fruit and nuts//8. oats//9. dark chocolate//10. natural sweeteners

I often get asked what my desert island food items would be for a healthier lifestyle.  When making my list, I was surprised to find that all the items were all pretty ordinary, nothing extremely exotic or unusual at all.  I really enjoy eating good honest and simple food, which is both healthy and delicious.  Hopefully that comes across well on the blog and my recipes are typically created using ‘regular’ ingredients that everyone would have in their store cupboards at home.

There is an online survey where you can win the nation’s top 10 favourite food items for sharing your own store cupboard essentials.

Which healthy living products would make your desert island list?  Do you think that superfood powders and more exotic products are necessary for a healthier lifestyle?
