Happy Sunday! Hope you are enjoying your weekends. It’s been another chilled out one for me so far and that theme looks like it’s set to continue for today too. We don’t have anything planned, really except perhaps a walk in the countryside and lots of movies, bliss! We are making the most of our time together before the baby comes and taking it easy when we can.
I’ve had a major addiction to Oreos this week, not sure why and the loaf of banana bread that I baked earlier in the week. This is a healthy living blog of course…promise, so I’ve balanced out the treats with some healthier foods too. I got out of the house mid-week and treated myself to my first pumpkin spiced latte of the season topped with whipped cream. Coffee isn’t really my thing, but I can always make time for one of these and I’m looking forward to trying the other seasonal flavours that Starbucks normally brings out too.
Recently I’ve tried lots of new and interesting healthy living foods, which I love to do. I’ve been sent a lovely package of breakfast foods from a gluten-free brand called Udis to review. Yesterday I tried out these apple and cinnamon toasties, which are a healthier version of Pop Tarts. They tasted pretty good and Alfie liked them too, but we both agreed that they could do with more filling.
Even though the weather has been cooler recently I’m still enjoying my salads. This one included mixed leaves, avocado, red onion, cheese and peppers, basically anything that I could throw into the bowl.
Now I know that we all tend to eat with our eyes and this murky looking green smoothie looks disgusting, but it tasted great despite appearances. I blended lots of spinach, oat milk, coconut water, coconut oil, banana and cocoa powder to make a swampy looking albeit tasty smoothie for breakfast.

I’ve been eating so much chilli and spicy food recently for the obvious reason of an overdue baby boy. I don’t think it’s actually working, but I’m enjoying the hotter food anyways. This was a chilli beef stir fry with lots of stir fry veggies and broccoli, yum!
There have been more figs for me this week, when isn’t there? I had this beautiful breakfast bowl during the week and it included organic natural yoghurt, my Pecan Maple Cinnamon Granola, a nectarine and chopped figs for the win. I loved this and could have easily gone back for a second bowl too.
Eggs are one of the cheapest and nutritionally dense foods out there and I’ve eaten them like it’s my job this week. I made scrambled eggs with spinach and avocado for lunch and I’ve had them for breakfast too.
This week’s workout round-up:
Monday – 30 minute walk
Tuesday – morning gym session (20 minutes of gentle cardio and strength routine – bicep curls, shoulder presses, chest presses, squats against the wall and weighted bum raises)
Wednesday – REST
Thursday – Prenatal yoga
Friday – morning gym session (20 minutes of gentle cardio and strength routine – bicep curls, shoulder presses, chest presses, squats against the wall and weighted bum raises)
Saturday – REST
Sunday – Prenatal yoga session and walking
It was so great getting back to my workouts this week. I took it easy last week because I was sure that my little man would be on his way, but figured that I should just carry on as normal this week. I still feel great and comfortable enough to workout gently and always appreciate how it makes me feel afterwards and the other benefits it brings. I’m happy to workout right up until the baby is born as long as I feel up to it and just take things day by day.
Regardless of whether our little boy decides to come naturally or not, it was confirmed mid-week that this would be mine and Alfie’s last weekend as two. We planned a lovely shopping trip and lunch to spend some quality time together. We only ended up in Pret for lunch because we were going to go out for dinner and not have a big lunch, but by the time we got home we crashed out and I cooked instead. I bought my favourite superfood salad that was enjoyed in the autumnal sunshine. I can’t believe that our baby boy will be here so soon!
How did you enjoy your last weekend before having a baby or getting married? Have you had your first pumpkin spiced latte of the season yet?

I’ve been curious about those healthy pop tarts – definitely need to give them a try! Love that Pret salad. x
They are definitely worth trying out, but the lack of filling lets them down a bit.
Working out throughout pregnancy is my tip for a good labour. You need to be strong and have stamina. Remember too that good labours do happen!

Thanks for the encouragement Clementine. Fingers crossed that it all helps. 🙂
I cannot believe your baby isn’t here yet, he’s really keeping you waiting for his much longed presence! You’re so inspiring with what you eat and how active you are even at 40 weeks pregnant. You go girl! 🙂
He’s keeping everyone in suspense that’s for sure. 🙂 Thanks Fi, I’m hoping that the healthier approach will help with the labour and recovery.
Congratulations on your baby!
It’s nice to see women continuing as normal and trying to keep healthy during pregnancy!
all of your meals look yummy btw! 🙂

Thanks so much. 🙂
Yum! All this looks so good, especially the granola. This post also reminds me that I really need to back in shape and make healthier decisions!
I’m so happy that this post inspired you Melissa. 🙂
Wow, you are doing amazing, I really hope your little one pops into the world soon
I had one this weekend (minus the coffee)- I find them so much sweeter than the chai latte, but they are a nice treat at this time of year. 🙂
Good luck with the birth. x
I have those gluten-free pop tart things. I agree – needs more filling and it was just so tart! My son eats gluten free so I’d love some suggestions on good food!
Another blogger suggested trying some apple sauce on top that that may help with the filling issue. 🙂
I want to try those Pop-Tart things. I hate the frosting on regular Pop-Tarts and always wish they made more of them without it. Most things are ruined by frosting.
I used to love the frosting as a kid, but now it’s much too sweet got me too.
I ended up being induced, so I knew exactly when our last few days as a couple were going to be. We had a blast relaxing, and we even went to the movies, where I inhaled some popcorn! Though those last days are physically miserable, it’s such an exciting time–like waiting at the top of that first huge drop on a roller coaster!!
Love your roller coaster analogy, it’s so true. Lots of exciting moments ahead. 🙂
You’ve got some interesting concoctions there! I love that you’re exercising during your pregnancy!
I love making food a little more interesting. 🙂
Everything looks so yummy! Those figs!!!!!!!!!
Those figs indeed!
yum! Your pictures make me want to go raid my fridge!
Ha! Thank you!:-)
I still haven’t tried on of those pumpkin smoothies but I’m pretty sure that’s going to change rather soon!
See those poptarts don’t look nearly as appealing as the super unhealthy ones because there’s no thick layer of icing and sprinkles on them! That’s why I loved them so when I was younger… 😉
Eeeep! The last weekend together! So exciting!! Go you for keeping up with working out! So great!
I love your food shots, each one looks so delicious! Hope baby arrives safe and sound!
I am soooo envious of the amazing figs that you have access to! They’re one of my favorite fruits, but I only have brief access to some anemic ones at specialty food stores… there are rare times that I get jewels like the ones in your photos, and I just treasure them. 🙂 Long story short, I love how you feature them in your photos, so that I can live vicariously through you. 😉 Best wishes for the coming weeks!
