How is September nearly over already? It’s been such a lovely month for me with getting everything organised and ready for our impending arrival, freelance and blogging projects and lots of fun social events and gatherings. I’m actually quite sad to see the end of this month, but it does mean the official arrival of autumn, which is one of my favourite seasons.
We travelled down to Plymouth to attend our friend’s baby’s naming ceremony, which was followed by a great Mad Hatter’s tea party afterwards. I’ve never actually been to this part of the world before, but it’s beautiful and will have to make the trip again.
I also got to catch up with my very good friend who came to stay for the weekend. We went to a fabulous wedding in Hampshire, where we ate lots of great food, including gelato, yum!
I also got to enjoy an incredible aromatherapy prenatal massage and ate one of the best lunches that I’ve had in a long time: a carbless falafel burger, roasted vegetables and sweet potato fries.
I’ve felt very creative over the past few weeks and shared some new recipes on the blog:
I posted recipes for my Pecan Maple Cinnamon Granola, my Banana, Peanut Butter and Greek Yoghurt Smoothie and a very seasonal recipe for my Warm Fig and Nectarine Salad. Check them out if you haven’t already and my updated recipe page.
My favourite posts on the blog in September:
The psychology of exercise – why a workout is about far more than fitness
Simple ideas on how to practise self-love
What I’m most looking forward to about being a new mum
On how affirmations can lead to a positive mind
Being ‘selfish’ – the most selfless act you can do for yourself
Social media overload – are we spending too much time on the internet?
October brings with it lots of major changes and I’m still working out how we’re going to approach things with a newborn. This month I’ve posted a lot about self-love and being kind to yourself and this is definitely something that I need to remember going forward.
Considering that caring for my little one is going to take up all of my time I’m going to try to prioritise some time when I can for myself too, even if it’s just 5 minutes. I really believe that to be our very best and to look after others, we have to show kindest to ourselves. To help with this I’ve treated myself to some new natural skin and body care and I’ve also made some healthy snacks to store in the freezer to keep me on track whilst breastfeeding. I’m also looking forward to getting a new wardrobe together full of staples as a confidence boost post-birth. This new adventure is all going to be a balancing act for me and there will definitely be hiccups along the way, but slowly and surely I’m confident that we will get there.
How was September for you? What are you most excited about in October?

Lots of luck with your lovely baby,Love the granola recipe.
Thank you! 🙂
October is my favorite month of the year. It’s like the moment when the air finally cools, the leaves are beautiful shades of orange and red, and halloween is here! It’s too lovely.
And best wishes for you and baby!! <3
The colours of autumn and the falling leaves are stunning. Thank you so much Alyssa! 🙂
I want to go to a Mad Hatter’s tea party! I love Alice in Wonderland and most things related. Your belly is adorable and makes me miss mine.
It was such a fun party. We had a back to front lunch with the dessert before the main. 🙂

I enjoyed your posts on self love and taking care of yourself. I feel like those are themes I’m really gravitating towards these days and I love hearing peoples advice about both. I also really like hearing about new towns that you’ve encountered it’s great to learn what’s going on in other parts of the world 🙂
Great to hear that you enjoyed my self love posts Winter, it’s so important and so easy to forget too. 🙂
Looks like September was a great month for you! I am still so shocked that it’s already October!
Same here, where does the time go!
All this talk of massages and gelato is making me envious 😛
This month did end quite quickly, but I’d like to think of it as a step closer to Christmas XD Wonderful post!

Aww sending you lots of luck and best wishes for October with your baby x
Thanks Michelle! 🙂
I live in Arizona where fall comes late, but you’re making me think how much November is more like September for us. In the meantime, I want to pretend it’s fall and make your pecan cinnamon granola- hum!
Ha! I think the granola would be perfect at any time of the year if I’m honest. 🙂
LOVE the photo of that oatmeal/pecan. I always say I’d put my fancy oatmeal in a nice looking jar on a counter, but I never do.
I think it looks so much prettier in a jar like that. 🙂
That falafel and those sweet potato fries look amazing–those are two of my favorite foods! And kudos to you for getting some healthy snacks ready for when you breastfeed. In those first few weeks postpartum, you will be RAVENOUS all of the time. I used to get up, feed my daughter, and then eat—even if it was 3 in the morning. 🙂
I figured that I would be starving hungry with all the breastfeeding. I’m going to buy some healthy snacks too as a way of tiding me over.
September was decent but I’m looking forward to October. Just nothing past that!
I hope October is kind to you. 😀
I’m a big fan of October. I think I love October so much because I can practically smell fall in the air, hot chocolate, movies, cuddles with my kids, fireplaces..and then all the wonderful holidays that follow.
You have just described so many of my favourite things about autumn. 🙂
September was a great month! I’m excited to read about your October with this baby coming! 🙂
September is my favorite month – I love the weather, it is beautiful almost everywhere in the world!
The weather is stunning in September, crisp but not too cold.
I definitely need to check out that granola recipe! I love snacking on a small bowl of granola during a busy workday!
It’s seriously addictive! I need to make some more asap!
I’ve really enjoyed doing the Blogtember challenge this month and I cannot wait to meet my nephew next month!!
Anything with granola sounds good!
Sounds like a fabulous month, and those sweet potato fries look delicious! September was crazy and went by too fast for me – from the looks of our calendar October is going to be the same!
Yay for a pre-natal massage. Those are the best! Glad to hear you are enjoying pregnancy.
I love September too! Great photos. Thanks for sharing.
The pecan granola looks delish, I’ll have to try that! I am so excited that it’s fall 🙂
September was good for me. Definitely not a busy as yours! I’m looking forward to the fall activities with my babies. We’ll be hitting the pumpkin patch and apple picking. I’m also looking forward to finalizing some things business wise! Fingers crossed.
