This week has been tough in terms of getting back in to the swing of things!

I definitely think that going back to work when your office is home is far more difficult than when you have to leave the house to go to the office.  There has been much temptation to have long leisurely breakfasts, afternoons reading in the garden or just a sneaky lie in.  To combat this, there has been lots of breakfasts at my desk to kick-start my day of work like this bowl of fresh watermelon, 2% Greek yoghurt, pumpkin seeds and almond butter.  Loving water melon still, so much that I bought a massive whole watermelon to keep my belly satisfied this week.

Even though I didn’t go totally over board on holiday, I’ve been trying to get back in to my normal eating habits:

It was raining cats and dogs yesterday and I fancied a baked sweet potato topped with cheese and a spinach side salad for lunch…so comforting!

After quite a successful week back to work I was definitely in the mood to relax come Friday.  I settled down with The Devil Wears Prada some fresh cherries and organic dark chocolate for my movie munchies.  I always find that I need to nibble on something during a film and these both really hit the spot!

Salads have been a staple this week, especially in the humidity.  I’ve been having all sorts of combinations but this mixed leaves, tomatoes, garlic and pepper cheese, spring onion, chickpeas, avocado and chick pea one with balsamic was my favourite.

Another way to get more veggie dense meals is stir fries and I loved this ginger and soy chicken one.  It had so much flavour and I loved all of the vibrant colours.

Ahhh…more watermelon with blueberries and rice cakes, one topped with cashew butter and the other with Nutella, yum!

Other than green smoothies I’ve also been enjoying overnight oats.  Overnight oats are the perfect way to still enjoy porridge oats without the heat.  I soaked my oats in unsweetened almond milk and added blueberries, nectarines, cashew nuts, and chia seeds.

This banana, peanut butter and date green smoothie was delicious and went with my buck wheat cereal and nectarine so well.  Sometimes I just don’t know what to have for breakfast so it’s nice to have a bit of a buffet instead.

My workouts this week have looked like this:

Monday – REST

Tuesday – 30 minute walk

Wednesday –  morning gym session (10 minutes gentle cardio and strength routine – bicep curls, shoulder presses, chest presses, squats against the wall and weighted bum raises, plus yoga stretches)

Thursday – 30 minute walk

Friday –  REST

Saturday –REST

Sunday – Walking and prenatal yoga

Getting back into the swing of things has been hard on the fitness front so I’ve just been going with the flow.  We did a lot of walking in holiday so I’ve been enjoying that this week rather than going to the gym.  I’m hoping to get back into more of  a routine next week.

So this week I’m 33 weeks pregnant…only 7 weeks to go until my due date! Time is going by so fast and thankfully we have pretty much finished getting the essentials for him.  It’s now time to concentrate on myself.  I’ve been buying bits for my hospital bag, although babies are full term at 37 weeks they are viable at 34 weeks and can generally come anytime after that…eeek!

I purchased this cute nautical cushion from The Crafty Fox Boutique on Etsy for him to sit on the antique rocking chair that I bought a while back, which I’ve had personalised. I’ve seen so many cute soft furnishings for him that it’s hard to resist and not buy it all.

Whilst on holiday I experienced my first tightening around my bump and there was lots of pressure too.  It went really hard and solid and I had to rest for a while until it passed.  I’m guessing that this may be my first Braxton Hicks contraction.  It was a little sore but not painful, just took me by surprise.  Nice to know that my body is preparing itself for this big adventure we’re embarking on very soon.

There has been mega amounts of movement still, which I love and he has become very responsive to music and when I touch my belly.  He was moving against Alfie’s hand the other day when we were playing songs to him almost like he was dancing to the beat. So cute!

The sun is shining here this morning, so I’m looking forward to a lovely day in the sunshine and a productive day of cleaning.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Do you find it hard to get back to the old routine after a holiday? What are your favourite movie munchies?
