Doesn’t everything look prettier in black and white?

York minster

To be fair, the stunning York Minster doesn’t need much help in making it look beautiful, but in this black and white shot that managed to get it just looks beautiful.  We were in York last weekend as part of out mini break in North Yorkshire.  Before heading to the Scarborough area we stopped over in York to break up the 4 hour drive.  Such a stunning town steeped in history and gorgeous architecture.  We will be definitely heading back again to explore some more.

During the York part of our trip I got to try French toast for the first time:

french toast

This was French Toast with bacon and maple syrup.  Oh my this tasted good and as always I loved the sweet and salty combo.  I also raided the breakfast bar for some fresh fruit and a pot of natural live yoghurt – got to love hotel breakfasts!

I have a post coming up about our trip to North Yorkshire later this week so watch out for that.  This last week has been very much about catching up with everything and also included a visit from my family and our Australian friends that was really lovely.

My food at home this week has been pretty tasty!

A post workout gym smoothie consisting of spinach, banana, almond milk and vanilla protein powder, really hit the spot and set me up for a very productive day.

Metcalfe’s sweet and salty popcorn was a perfect snack for our road trip to York

Doughnut peaches are back!  I’m so happy that these little gems are back in season.  I’ve been eating them non-stop this week.

Streamline

A lovely summery sundae for an afternoon snack using Streamline’s reduce strawberry jam.  This contained Greek yoghurt mixed with lime zest and the jam, layered with granola and fresh strawberries.  A perfect dessert for a Wimbledon tennis party!

Moo free

A big bar of organic and dairy free chocolate has been keeping me company in the evenings…so good!

breakfast
I’m still all over sough dough at the moment and had a couple of slices toasted and topped with cashew butter, banana, honey and cinnamon with a side of chopped doughnut peaches for breakfast.

health food shop

I also picked up some treats from a new health food shop that I visited earlier this week.  Lots of raw chocolate goodies, passion fruit curd, Dr Bonner’s organic soap and chilli and lemon hummus chips made their way home with me.

My workouts have been pretty relaxed this week:

Monday – walking around the Yorkshire dales

Tuesday – REST

Wednesday – morning gym session (20 minutes gentle cardio and strength routine)

Thursday –  REST

Friday –  morning gym session (20 minutes gentle cardio and strength routine)

Saturday –  Prenatal yoga

Sunday – walking

We did lots of walking around Yorkshire, I’m not sure how many miles, but my feet were quite sore when we got back and  I was exhausted.  I feel like such a pregnant lady these days!  I’m happy with what I fitted in though as it was a really busy week trying to catch up on everything.

This week my bump turned 24 weeks!  Yep, we have reached the 6 months point.  I can’t believe that in roughly 3 months time there will be a little munchikin in our lives to love and treasure.  To be fair our baby boy has totally taken over our lives already as we try and prepare for him.  In the next few weeks we will be buying some of the bigger items like his travel system.

There really isn’t much to report on the baby front this week, except that he’s growing really well and moving lots.  My little wriggler thought it would be fun to have a party in my belly at 4 am in the morning the other day, that wasn’t the best nights sleep ever I can assure you.

What is your favourite fruit to come into season at this time of year?  I love doughnut peaches so much!  Obviously there’s strawberries and all of the other summer berries too, but technically these are available out of season too, which makes doughnut peaches seem that little bit more special.

What’s the best thing that you have eaten this week?
