Hello folks! I hope you are all having a brilliant weekend. Yesterday Alfie and I braved the gale force winds and rain for a trip into town. We had a lovely time shopping and Alfie treated me to a couple of dresses and a jumper, he’s so sweet! I also picked out some new lingerie (much needed!) and a lovely coat from Zara for myself. It was well passed lunch by the time we had finished and at about 3pm I treated us both to high tea at a beautiful café in Oxford.
This was our first high tea, we have been meaning to do it for ages but just never got round to it. We had brie and apple rye bread sandwiches, salmon and cream cheese sandwiches also on rye bread, egg mayonnaise sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, truffles, Earl grey tea and chamomile tea. Oh, this was fabulous! We were both completely stuffed when we had finished and didn’t even have room for dinner later that evening,
Also this week, we went out for lunch at work to try out a new restaurant diner called Maggie’s. They serve breakfast all day, including pancakes, nom! I went for a smoked paprika chicken burger (I left the bun) and skinny fries, delicious.
Speaking of yummy work lunches we had another chef cooked meal as part of the Wellness Moth at work. This was a bit of a mish mash of sea food paella, fig, walnut and chicory salad, caponata and homemade focaccia. You are supposed to have one dish or the other, but everyone has generally just been treating it like a buffet.
I’ve been eating a lot of venison of late including this venison burger topped with cheese and red onions served with roasted vegetables and plantain and ketchup.
There has also been a lovely venison and red onion stew with herbed potatoes and stir fried greens. I so needed this on Friday night after a such a hectic week at work, heaven!
Pineapple and mangoes have been a favourite of mine this week. I had some chopped pineapple with Greek yoghurt and dried blueberries for breakfast earlier this week. It was so good!
For the rest of the weekend I really don’t have anything planned except rest and relaxation, catching up with my lovely Nan over the phone and watching movies. I have the end of the week off work too, which I’m really happy about.
Have you ever had afternoon tea/high tea before? What did it include?
What have you been up to this weekend?

This all looks so lovely and the high tea is definitely a nice treat! It seems like you had a lovely time!
Oh, and the venison and red onion stew looks amazing, too! Actually all of it does! haha!

Thanks lovely! X
I love afternoon tea! Although I would be happy without the sandwiches- a scone with jam and some cake (and tea) are the best bits anyway.
This was our lunch so the sandwiches made it more filling. But the cakes are my faves too 🙂
Afternoon tea is my absolute favourite thing at the moment. I just love it. The cake, scone, sandwiches, tea…perfect!
It’s such a lovely treat 🙂
The afternoon tea looks so good! x
It was gorgeous! 🙂
I’ve never had afternoon before, but we are taking my mum as a surprise birthday present. I managed to find somewhere that will cater for Vegans, looking forward to it!
How lovely that they have vegan options…enjoy!
