A few weeks ago I was sent an amazing hamper from Flora pro.activ full of ingredients and a recipe card to make baked apples with ginger and orange.  Hereโ€™s how I did:

I was really surprised by how easy this was to cook.  Once the core of the apple was taken out it was just a case of filling the cavity of the apple and making the sauce.  My mum used to make me baked apples with raisins sometimes as a quick dessert, so this was very reminiscent of my childhood.

Baked apples make a healthier alternative to an apple pie or apple strudel for dessert.  You can find the recipe on the Flora pro.activ website.  Essentially,  there are 4.6g of fat per portion (per apple) and you also get one of your five a day too.

Iโ€™m definitely going to be making more baked apples in the future.

Do you make baked apples at home?  What are your favourite baked apple fillings?
