I’m a bookworm and proud to admit it.  When I was younger I used to spend hours with my head in a book, lost in a world of adventure.  These days my bookshelves are bursting with books ranging from medical, scientific, fictional and recipe books.

As a healthy living and lifestyle blogger I love flicking through recipe books.  I enjoy looking at the beautiful photography, learning about different foods from other cultures and being inspired by the recipes.  With the growing popularity of smart phones and tablets there has been a surge of cooking and recipe apps recently.  I’ve been looking at a couple and found one that I thought was pretty interesting and worth sharing with you all:

The Green Kitchen is recipe app full with an abundance of vegan and healthy recipes and stunning food photography.  Mostly the recipes focus on vegetarian food created from organic and wholesome ingredients, free from refined sugars and saturated fats.

All the recipes are carefully hand picked by David and Luise – the creators of the highly successful Green Kitchen blog.  The recipes featured on the app are some of their favourites with some exclusive new recipes thrown in the mix.

There is plenty of food porn to be had by all:

My personal favourite recipes are the Green Lentil and Yellow Beet Salad, Roasted Butternut and Coconut Soup and Raw Sprouted Granola.  There really is something for everyone.  Personally I love the look of everything!

Features include:

1. US to metric unit conversions
2. Step by step cooking instructions
3. Each recipe is clearly denotes specific dietary requirements
4. Recipes for main courses, snacks and drinks

The app opens up to a picture gallery of the featured recipes.  You can tap on an image that interests you to open up the recipe and cooking instructions.  Once inside a recipe the app allows you to swipe up and down to reveal more beautiful photography related to that specific recipe.  Swiping from left to right enables you to flick through the rest of the recipes on the app.  It is very user friendly and easy to navigate around.  Also, you can share your favourite recipes on Twitter and Facebook.

For £2.99 I was really impressed with this app and it’s contents.  I am even considering purchasing their brand new Healthy Desserts app for more recipe inspiration.

Do you use cooking apps?  What is your current favourite cooking app?
