HoHoHo!  Merry Christmas!  Sorry.  Please excuse my premature Christmas spirit.  Last night Alfie and I headed to the Christmas of Lights Festival in Oxford city centre.  My mind has been in summer holiday mode ever since returning from our honeymoon. I guess 30 degree heat really doesn’t warrant Christmas cheer for us in the UK.

To get in to the festive spirit from the off I started the day off with a scrumptious pumpkin, hazelnut and almond smoothie:

This was awesome!  A simple mix of tinned pumpkin, hazelnut almond rice milk, water, ground flax and shelled hemp seeds.  I could drink these all year round.

The Christmas lights were stunning:

They had some bicycle decorations too, which I thought was very Oxford.

Roasting chestnuts on the fire!

There was all sorts going on including a live band, dancing, a fair ground and a Christmas market full of handmade goods and food.

I picked up a delicious Thai green chicken curry and spotted some spiced hot mulled wine that I wanted to try:

This tasted seriously good!

There were plenty of rides at the fairground, mainly for kids, but we couldn’t resist hopping onto the nearby carousel:

Then on to dessert…

There was a long queue at the churros stand, but we waited patiently and shared these wonderful organic and vegan churros coated in cinnamon sugar.  We had some melted chocolate for dipping too.  OMG!  These were well worth the wait, so good!

For the journey home we picked up a hot chocolate each.  There were 20 flavours to choose from so it was a tough decision.  I had the amaretto hot chocolate and Alfie had the coconut hot chocolate.  We were both equally pleased with our choices.

I’m well up for Christmas now and cannot wait for the big day.  The run up to Christmas is just the best and I love getting all prepared, baking and buying presents.

Are you in the Christmas spirit yet?  One of our neighbours have put their Christmas tree decorations up already.  It’s a bit early for me for all of that just yet.
