…fortunately that isn’t a reference to my mental state, although at some points this week I have wondered. This week has been manic with lots if things to do, I feel like I hamster on a wheel. But, my saviour that is the weekend is here, so no complaints here.
I’ve been getting a sense of calm from drinking copious amounts of tea. I reviewed these interesting liquid tea flavours this week to review on the blog. I had a mug of the elderflower and lime flavour with a chocolate brownie yesterday afternoon. Perfect afternoon pick me up!
There has been a plethora of gorgeous food this week including a fabulous salad with my favourite figs.
It was made up of peppery mixed leaves, red pepper, figs, Wensleydale cheese with blueberries (so good!) and mixed dried fruit and nuts. I LOVED this, full of my favourite things.
Another highlight for lunch this week was this Innocent lentil curry pot.
I was really surprised by the quality if this, lovely.
After my taste bud explosion at the weekend after the best meal ever I was inspired to try blackberries in a savory dish. My main course consisted of a blackberry jus. I added some on top of steamed broccoli, roasted sprouts, roasted chicken breast, feta cheese and mixed nuts.
The flavours really went well together and I think I will be adding more blackberries to my lunches and dinners from now on.
I’m all over oats at the moment now that the weather has become cooler. I’ve got a stash of oats at work and at home so I can enjoy that comforting warmth in both places. This particular bowl of porridge was eaten at my desk, made with just water, oats, a chopped apple, acacia honey and mixed nuts.
Well, I think it’s obvious from this post that I’m a little obsessed with nuts at the moment. They are great for snacking on and adding to dishes for added nutritional value. All nuts have different nutritional benefits, but they are all full of protein, essential oils and healthy fats. My personal favourites are pecan nuts, good for lowering cholesterol; almonds which are high in vitamin E; brazil nuts which are a brilliant source of selenium required to make the active thyroid hormone. Alfie has a soft spot for peanuts and macadamia nuts, especially if they are the candied variety.
Are you nuts about nuts? Do you have a particular favourite?
What are your plans for the weekend? We are spending most of this weekend getting ready for our honeymoon as it’s the last weekend before we go, so excited! Also, my mum is coming to visit to have a look at our wedding album that arrived a few weeks ago.

Everything looks so yummy! I am so intrigued by that liquid tea, is it sweetened?
And I LOVED veg pots when I was in the UK, they were a staple!
And I go through phases with nuts, sometimes I just love whole nuts, and sometimes I’m all about the nut butter!
It’s all 100% from fruit and very natural. They have been great so far. 🙂
I love almonds and brazils, and salted peanuts the most. The only nut I don’t like is walnuts- I don’t mind them in things but not on their own.
I bought some of the peach tea stuff as I love black tea with peach, so I have been adding a little bit to normal tea to get a nice fruity flavour. The elderflower sounds lovely.
I think I’m going to really enjoy getting experimental with those teas, such great flavours.
I tend to eat more nut butter than nuts, but I do like snacking on almonds throughout the day. Bet you can’t wait for your trip now! Have a good weekend!
Super excited now! Hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Nuts are dangerous around me. I’ve been known to eat half a packet of M&S salted roasted luxury nuts before. Needless to say I was so full for the rest of the day. I get the Graze boxes so it’s a bit more mangeable portions now haha.
Those teas sound intriguing, looking forward to learning a bit more!
Yes there are very addictive, your certainly not alone in getting snack happy with nuts.
I’m definitely nuts about nuts! Still obsessed with nut butters but pistachios are pretty yummy too!
Oooh pistachios are such a treat, love them too!
I am nuts about nuts! Love them all almonds are probably my favourite, I love that tea so good!
Ha! Glad that I’m not the only nutty one out there.
I saw those teas in my Zest magazine, I really want to try them, they look delicious. Hope you have a lovely time on your honeymoon xx
Thanks Emma. The tea flavours are fab do far, really enjoying them.
