When I think about saving money the first things that spring to mind are cutting down my food bill and reducing my clothes shopping splurges. However, after doing a bit of research there are some very simple changes that can be applied around the home that will not only cut down your utility bills but also save energy. I am conscious of being too wasteful in terms of energy such as leaving the tap running for too long and such like.
Below I have listed a few changes that I have made in order to save some energy:
-
Turn the TV power off at the plug socket rather than leaving it on stand by
-
Switch off the lights when leaving a room
-
Washing my clothes at 30 degrees
-
Turning off the the tap whilst cleaning my teeth
-
If possible, filling the washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher with one load, rather than using it for multiple loads to help save water
-
When boiling the kettle, only boiling the amount of water required rather than filling it to the top
Just making small changes like these will definitely help to conserve energy around the home and eventually keep your bank balance happy in the long run.
Are you conscious of saving energy?
Do you have any energy saving tips for around the home?
