Cocktails to celebrate the start of the weekend…yes please!
On Friday night all the medics were out celebrating the end of their junior doctor training. They say that medics have the best social life’s as they always come up with a reason to celebrate. We headed out to join in the celebrations with Alfie’s friends and drank lots of cocktails until the early hours, so much fun!
After quite a late night I had a lovely lie in before heading to the gym for a cardio and strength routine, which was great for getting energized and ready to start my Saturday.
I made this lovely strawberry, banana, and peanut butter smoothie for my post-workout breakfast, heaven!
After breakfast I got ready to go back to my hometown of Leicester as me and my girlfriends from school were meeting up at our friends house to meet her new 2 week old son.
For lunch I picked up a Mediterranean chicken salad from M&S. The one pictured above is Friday’s work lunch treat. You just cannot beat M&S salads…this one was super tasty.
It was so much fun catching up with my girlies, we had left it far too long. Even though it had been a while since we had seen each other it felt like no time had passed at all. We still all laugh at the same jokes and are still as crazy as we were when we were 13 years old. The only differences are that we are much older, more experienced in life and some of us are married and have babies, opening a while new chapter in our friendships.
Having lots of baby cuddles with my friends new baby was the best, he’s the cutest!
When I got home I made some organic lamb mince in a tomato sauce with lots of veggies with a side of courgettes and feta cheese. I actually cooked the courgettes in the microwave and they turned out really well.
Whilst shopping for the new baby yesterday I also picked up a couple of things for myself. There is an American candy store in town selling M&M’s and I couldn’t resist hitting it up and picking up a few bags. Almond, mint, pretzel and peanut butter M&M’s all made it into my bag. I had some of the almond M&M’s on top of some Greek yoghurt, coconut and frozen blueberries. Those M&M’s are really addictive!
Other favourite eats from the weekend:
A bowl of Greek yoghurt, kiwis and a nut and seed mix for breakfast at work on Friday.
Veal meatballs in a tomato sauce, mixed leaves and grated cheese
It’s been a great weekend so far and I have some cooking, yoga, and generally just chilling out in the sunshine for the rest of today.
What’s your favourite cocktail? I’m loving apple mojito’s at the moment and have been known to love a Cosmopolitan Carrie Bradshaw style, because that’s how I roll. =)
Are you still in contact with your childhood friends? Do you see each other often?
What have you been up to this weekend?

I only recently realised you could eat the skin of a kiwi, and it’s made me much more enthusiastic about eating kiwis without having to always awkwardly scoop out the insides!
I’m definitely a Cosmo-kinda girl…I went to New York for New Year last year and we headed on the Sex and the City tour where many cosmo cocktails were consumed! 🙂
I really canot be bothered to peel the skins off kiwi’s either. I actually quite like the skin. 🙂
I am a complete cocktail fiend- I absolutely love them! I love mojito’s- all that fresh mint! I do like a margarita though- has to have a salt rim mind! I worked yesterday, today I am off, so I am going to the rock n roll half marathon expo to pick up my race packet for tomorrow, and then off to the cinema. have a great day!
I hope that your race goes well…good luck!
Oh you can’t beat a good cocktail! I love all sorts, they do a cherry bomb cocktail in one of my fave bars which is amazing 🙂
Oooh that sounds good! 🙂
That smoothie looks absolutely wonderful, I love a nice cold smoothie after a workout. I’m glad you enjoyed your time with your friends and got some baby cuddling time in!
Baby cuddles are the best, he is adorable! Smoothies are great post workout aren’t they.
That smoothie looks wonderful 🙂
Thanks Maria, it was yummy!
I think you have a great mix between eating healthy and enjoying yourself.
I always say that life is all about balance, it was a fab weekend! 🙂
I’m not sure what my favourite cocktail is…maybe Pimms (loving all those added extras), a good G&T (for special occassions Hendricks with cucumber variety). But I do love sweet ones with lots of different juices in. I’m not a big fan of mojitos as I don’t like the mint!
Love going to those American sweet shops – heaven!
I love Pimms right now…perfect for summer!
I absolutely love mojitos, but for me my favourite cocktail has to be anything with gin, elderflower and something sour too. Sounds like you had a fabulous weekend 🙂 I try hard to keep in contact with my childhood friends but it’s so difficult when you’re scattered all over the country
That dessert with the M&Ms looks amazing! I love mojitos in the summer – so refreshing!
I love catching up with friends over cocktails! My favourite place is in London, where they serve drinks in mason jars and tea cups. So nice!
