Yesterday was such a lovely day! Thankfully Alfie wasn’t working this weekend so we’ve spent lots of quality time together.

This is a typical breakfast for me at the moment and I couldn’t resist a yoghurt mess for breakfast yesterday: blueberries, strawberries, grapes, granola and a Danio raspberry yoghurt.

When all of the house chores were done we headed out to Bicester Village for a wander around the shops.

OOTD: blazer, Zara//bretton striped tee, Zara//skinny jeans, Forever 21//gladiator sandals, Office//bag, Mulberry.

I think this has to be one of my favourite outfits, got to love a bit of nautical style in your ensemble.

By the end of the day I didn’t actually buy anything for myself except from a very pretty umbrella from Joules.  I did treat Alfie to a very fancy wallet as shockingly his was stolen during the week.  A patient at the GP practice where he is doing his final rotation helped themselves and then had the audacity to ring the GP practice pretending to be from the bank and requested the PIN to his cards.  After getting over the shock I thought Alfie deserved a bit of a treat from Gucci.

Later for dinner I made a traditional Ghanaian chicken soup with okra which is typically served with fufu which is basically pounded yam or plantain.  Alfie had the fufu, but I wanted something lighter so just had the chicken with some salad which worked out quite nicely.

The evening was spent watching a movie with some pear cider and some sweet and salty popcorn.

Rather than my usual salads for lunch, this week I have been enjoying lots of fresh veggies with feta cheese.  I had this quite a few times and it was nice to change things up a bit.

Lots of raw veggies and hummus have also been devoured this week:

I love that I can leave stuff in the fridge at work.  On days when I don’t have time to make lunch, there is something in the fridge waiting for me.

We went out for a work lunch this week to Okwari for some fantastic sushi.  I love sushi but it’s really difficult to find a decent sushi restaurant.  This restaurant is fantastic and really good value.  I had a tempura prawn sushi roll with some pork gyoza, incredible!

Favourite treat of the week:

This has to go the pecan brownie from the Happy Kitchen, probably one of the best brownies ever!

The weather has been fantastic this week and I decided to dump my gym workout for a run in the evening sunshine.

Monday: 30 minute walk

Tuesday: 20 minutes of HIITs on the cross trainer and treadmill, upper body workout, abs, 10 minutes HIITS on the bike.

Wednesday: 30 minute walk

Thursday: 3 mile run

Saturday: 20 minutes of HIITs on the cross trainer and treadmill, lower body workout, abs, 10 minutes HIITS on the bike

Sunday: Bike ride

Going on that run was definitely the right decision.  I’m right back at the beginning where running is concerned, however I’m not too bothered about that, for me it’s all about the enjoyment.  We are going for a bike ride around the villages today for something different.  I love changing up my workouts every now and then.

How do you like to change things up in your workouts? Do you think it’s important to take a break from the usual routine?
