Through the years I’ve had quite the journey where my relationship with food is concerned.  However, over time I have slowly learnt what works best for me.

Rather than going the whole hog and having a diet that is solely made up of sugar and takeaways or being restrictive, I have shunned the word diet and tried to adopt a healthy balance.  My diet tends to be well rounded full of protein, wholegrain carbohydrates, good fats and a shed loads of veggies and fruit.  Of course there is always room for cake and chocolate in my diet, but I tend to have theses in moderation.  My body seems to respond well to balance and this works just fine for me.

One thing that I have learnt is that “one mans meat is another man’s poison,” and this can easily be applied to what is best for our bodies when seeking a healthier lifestyle. There are lots of other things out there  high protein and low carb diets, Paleo diet, Low GI, the list is endless.

There is so much information out there in regards to what should be considered the best way to become healthy.  At the end of the day we are all individuals and I think its all about finding what works for you.  The media constantly get on my nerves- they are quick to jump on the latest fad diet, but they fail to explain is that this will not work for everyone.  At the moment I am in a good place where my health and body image is concerned, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s working well for me.

How do you feel about the media and their “one size fits all” approach to healthy eating?

Do you think you feel that you have found that works for you?
