May is one of those months that is normally neither here nor there for me. It’s one of those transitional months where we are coming to the end of spring and heading in to summer-kind of like being 20 years old and wanting to be 21.
I have to say though that this time round May has been marvelous and very kind, lots of great stuff has happened:
I managed to bag myself a new job in London. Even though it’s still early days everything is going really well and I’m really enjoying my new and more challenging role.

My new job gave me the urge to go on a shopping trip for some new garms and included a pit stop to the beloved Wholefoods.

There was also a fabulous BBQ and a great game of rounders in the spring sunshine that took me back to my childhood.
We have also started to make more definite plans regarding our honeymoon which we are arranging for our first wedding anniversary in November. Hopefully it will all be booked next month, exciting!

I took some time out for myself to do some of the things that I love. That caramel and chocolate gelato is still on my mind…amazing!

Also, I discovered a fabulous health food shop that sells an abundance of unusual products. I think that I’m going to be making lots of trips to that shop.

On the blog I posted some great recipes such as my Maple, Pear and Chocolate Cake and some slow cooker recipes.
This month I have also been working on getting the balance back into my diet and I have done pretty well. There has been lots of meals out and family get togethers, but I’m happy that my body is naturally drawn to fresh veggies and fruit. In situations where I do over indulge I know that I can trust my body to put me back on the right path.
I cannot wait to see what the summer has in store!
Overall, I manage to accomplish most of my goals, however I didn’t get round to finishing the guest room. I don’t really have many goals for June, just a few things that I would like to get done. I have been making the effort to go to the gym twice in the week after work and at the weekends too. So far this seems to be working well with my current routine, however I am stuggling to fit in some yoga at the minute which is something that I want to work on in June.
Goals for June
-
Continue to get back into balance with my eating especially on the sugar front (more on that soon!)
- Experiment more with raw food especially now the weather is warmer
-
Organise my wardrobe
-
Confirm honeymoon plans
-
Get the final version of my thesis bound for the library
- Go to the gym twice in the week and twice at the weekend
- try and fit in some yoga
-
Generally just have fun
What made May marvellous for you? Do you have any goals for June?

Sounds like you had a brilliant May – well done for keeping everything nicely balanced during this time of re-adjustment! May hasn’t been too bad for me, I haven’t been perfect with my eating /
exercising all of the time, but have managed to come to terms with the
fact that being perfect isn’t all that, and that learning to be moderate
most of the time is more important. Now I just need to keep it going
and refine it all a bit 🙂
Exactly, what is perfect anyway? I think it’s nice to take a break from the routine from time to time. Sometimes we just need to take a step back so we can get back in to the routine whole heartedly and to have lots of fun when on holiday of course.
I always love May- two bank holidays, half term, normally the weather is getting nicer (it was at the start of the month)- sounds like it has been great for you too! Where are you planning on going for your honeymoon?
May is a lovely month, glad that you made the most of it! We are thinking about the Maldives.
Sounds like a great month, I hope June is just as good for you : )
Thanks, same to you!

May has flown by, the weather was so atrocious here in Dublin, only the last 2 days have felt like summer, fingers crossed it lasts! Have a great June!
