Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying your Bank Holiday weekends, I know I certainty am. Technically this is my first proper weekend of my working life, since I’ve been in retail for 8 years the only full weekends I’ve had off are through annual leave. Thankfully I timed my resignation just right so that I could enjoy a 4 day weekend before starting my new job, so it’s safe to say that all is good right now!
Friday was spent mainly in the garden topping up my vitamin D levels. it was such a beautiful sunny day that it would have been rude to do anything else.
Monk fish wrapped in parmaham
We discovered a fantastic fish restaurant and had the most amazing meal. It was so good that the food deserves a post all of it’s own. Cocktails were consumed after our delicious meal too! =)
Yesterday we headed to London for a road trip…
OOTD: Maxi dress, New Look//biker jacket, ASOS//Chelsea boots, ASOS//Hamilton tote, Michael Kors//tights, Tu at Sainsbury’s.
The weather wasn’t looking it’s best in the morning, but I was adamant to break out my summer wardrobe-hence the tights and Chelsea boots with the maxi dress. It was such fun trip and I picked up some lovely things for my new job and otherwise.
Lunch was spent in the food market in Marks and Spencer’s. I picked up a Morroccan spiced butternut and cous cous salad and some tuna salad bites wrapped in mooli ribbons. Both of these were new too me and tasted incredible, my favourite being the squash salad, naturally!
After all that shopping we stopped for tea and cake in the afternoon. I had a pot of green tea and a raspberry cheese cake, so good! Then it was off to Whole Foods for some treats before heading home.
Generally this week has been pretty good including my workouts:
Monday: REST
Tuesday: 20 minutes of HIITs on the cross trainer and treadmill, lower body workout, abs, 5 minute cool down on the bike.
Wednesday: Yoga for Runners podcast
Thursday: 20 minutes of HIITs on the cross trainer and treadmill, upper body workout, abs, 5 minute cool down on the bike.
Friday: Detox yoga flow
Saturday: Lots of walking and shopping.
Sunday: 3O minutes of HIITs on the cross trainer, bike and treadmill, lower and upper body workout and abs.
Monday was a rest day as I was still feeling rough from the weekend. I don’t know about you but lugging shopping bags around London counts as a workout, in my books anyway. This morning I decided to go to the gym for a kick ass workout, loved it!
My food has been pretty typical this week and full of things that I love:
Believe it or not this was for lunch and not breakfast. Fried eggs with super runny yolks and bacon with a bowl of chopped pineapple, strawberries and kiwi. I’m loving huge bowls of fresh fruit at the moment.
I cooked a huge batch of veal mince again this week packed with lots of veggies. It was topped with half an avocado and then I added plantain and yellow peppers on the side.
This week I also played around with my tagine again and slow cooked a lovely lamb inspired Moroccan stew with veggies and olives and served on a bed of kale.
Strawberries and grapes topped with Greek yoghurt and maple syrup have been a staple desert this week. Desserts like this always hit the spot.
Today I’m off to visit a Farmers Market plus get some baking down and make a curry in the slow cooker (you bloggers have got me inspired!). I’m not sure about tomorrow but if the weather is nice then maybe we will go punting down the river and have a nice and relaxing day in the sunshine.
What have you been up to this weekend?
What fresh fruits are you loving at the moment?
What is the tastiest thing that you have eaten this weekend?

Wow everything looks so delicious! I love M&S food and that salad is one of my favourites. The carrot dip is so scrummy! I love your outfit too. Very pretty dress! Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. My husband rarely has a weekend off so I know how you feel! x
Thanks! I loved that squash salad! 🙂
Loving how nice the weather has been in the UK this weekend 😀 so nice to eventually have some sun! I really want to try some of those new M&S bits and bobs, they always have such tasty food! Jealous of your trip to London & Wholefoods too! Yumm! 🙂
The weather is incredible isn’t it. I hope you are enjoying the sun!
I miss M&S food so incredibly much- mum used to buy all sorts of picnic goodies from Marks and Sparks, so their stuff always takes me back to sports days and other schooly things 🙂 Looks like their food just keeps getting better and better though!
There food is incredible for lunches on the go. I bet your picnics were fab!
Some amazing eats here Jemma! Love your maxi dress, perfect for summer shopping. Hope you picked up some great things from Wholefoods 🙂
Also, I adore those tuna rolls, so tasty!
I was really impressed with them, so yummy!
Sounds like a lovely weekend. I worked yesterday and I am working tomorrow, no rest for me 🙁 I went to see the lion king in the theatre this afternoon which was amazing + then took nick out for a really fancy dinner to celebrate his birthday which was last weekend. I am loving persimmons + mango right now! Best thing I had was my food at the restaurant this eve, chilled cucumber + frozen avocado soup, a beautiful raw salad + a vegan dessert which was an oat cookie, chocolate avocado pudding passion fruit sauce + kiwi! Amazing. I’ve really got into plantain lately, how do you cook yours?
Oh poor you. I hope you got to enjoy some of the weekend. The Lion King is amazing, so colourful, loved it!
Oh I forgot to sat that I either grill or fry my plantain or put it in stews. 🙂
Loving that maxi dress, Jemma!
Thanks! 🙂
I could spend a fortune in the M&S food hall. Especially for picnics.
It’s so easy to do without even realising.
I’ve had a fab weekend, Brighton’s foodie festival and a girls night out yesterday which was so much fun!
Glad to hear you had a great weekend!
I’ve just bought a slow cooker of my own, I think you will enjoy yours! I can remember when I first stopped working in shops. Having the weekend off was amazing, enjoy x
So far I’ve mad a curry and Chinese pulled pork. It’s such a fab way of cooking! 🙂
I had that squash salad for lunch on Saturday- it was delicious 🙂
Oh I love your maxi dress! It’s so pretty! I’m a big fan of maxi dresses.
I’m loving strawberries at the moment. I love adding them to my salads. Really livens things up 🙂
Maxi dresses are one of my staples for the summer, love them.
Woop for weekends off, especially bank holidays – once you get used to having them off, you’ll never want to lose them! Belated and huge congratulations on the job, look forward to hearing about it.
That dress looks gorgeous and so does the food 🙂
Hope you had a fab day yesterday, it would have been perfect for punting!
I will definitely get used to having the weekends off! 🙂
Very tempted by a slow cooker – look forward to hearing about your recipes! This weekend I meditated. and meditated. and slept a little bit 😉 Good luck with the start of your job and transitioning into your (partly) London life!
Oh you so should. I have been loving experimenting with mine!
