Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you for your wonderful comments on my last wedding post.  It was such a special day for us and I am so happy that I’m able to share it with you all.

If you missed the first installment of my wedding series then you can catch up here.

Having lived and making Coventry our home for 4 years we decided to shun wedding tradition of getting married in the brides hometown and decided to get married in the place where we had built our home together.

One of the most beautiful places in Coventry has to be the area surrounding the Cathedral.  Most of Coventry was bombed during the war, however little Medieval gems like Coventry Cathedral still remain as does the church which we decided to get married in.  High vaulted ceilings, incredible stained glass windows and hand carved pews set the scene for our magical day.

Sitting in the comfort of my wedding car being escorted to the church there was no sign of nervousness, no sign of apprehension, no sign of those dreaded wedding jitters.  Only thoughts of love and happiness passed through my mind.

The vicar greeted us as the church door and asked me if I was ready.   Apart of me want to shout at the top of my voice “YES!” I’ve been waiting for this day for 8 years.  Thankfully I saw sense and just nodded politely and the bridal procession music began.

Our ceremony was very intimate and personal.  The procession started with our mothers walking down the aisle to the alter to light separate candles to represent the two different families.  Then walked the bridesmaids with their respective groomsmen followed by the flower girls and then it was my turn!

At this point as we waited for our cues to start walking the bridesmaid closest to me kept turning around a whispering, “Jemma, you’re getting married, you’re getting married!” Nothing could wipe the smile off my face or kill the butterflies of excitement in the pit of my stomach.

The walk down the aisle felt like forever, but eventually I made it to my patiently waiting groom. A feeling of reassurance washed over me.  I felt calm and relaxed as I was about to marry my best friend.

We have received so many wonderful comments from our wedding guests about our ceremony about how unique and beautiful it was.  With a big love of music we wanted this to be conveyed at the church.  All of the music was also a reflection of our personalities on this joyous occasion.  There was a choir, as string quartet, a soloist and a duet which worked in harmonious unison to make our big day so perfect.

It was so easy for me to say “I do,” which was met with rapturous applause and cheers from our guests. What I thought was going to be the nerve wracking part was quite the opposite.

Having all of our amazing friends and family under one roof to share our special day was incredible. Everyone was in such high spirits and were more than happy to “drink champagne and dance on the tables” in celebration!
