Hello lovelies! m I hope you all have had a great week. I have really been enjoying the sunshine on my week off from work and have really made the most of it.
On Monday we headed to Stratford-Upon-Avon for the day to have a look around. Tuesday was dedicated to wedding planning and we secured 2 vintage cars which have been beautifully restored, they look like new! We also visited our cake decorator to discuss our cake design. It was also our anniversary so we went out for a lovely meal. After all of that running around we decided to take Wednesday as a rest day and just loafed around the house a bit and headed into town to look around. Yesterday we headed to Sheffield to visit my brother for the day and got home quite late. Today I have been just chilling and getting things done around the house. Iβve also got some Wholemeal Banana and Coconut Muffins in the oven and they smell beautiful (recipe coming soon!).
Since I was having a week off I decided to take it easy o the exercise front too and took an extra rest day this week. I made sure to still get my strength in and a lovely morning run in the early sunshine too.
Monday: 3.5 mile run and 200 ab crunches (8 varieties, 25 reps each)
Wednesday: 30 minutes of high intensity intervals on the treadmill, cross trainer and bike, strength workout 1, 5 minute cool down on the bike.
Friday: High intensity intervals on the the cross trainer and bike (10 minutes each), strength workout 2, 100 ab crunches (8 varieties, 25 reps each)
Iβve also been getting on board with the green smoothie challenge:
Frozen cherries, a banana, almond extract, almond butter, chocolate hemp protein powder, camu camu berry powder, rice milk and water
Butternut squash smoothie with a banana, maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger and rice milk topped with rice puffs.
I will have a full post of all of my smoothies as part of the challenge coming up soon!
Other favourite eats of this week have included:
A mega salad of mixed leaves, pearl barley, haloumi cheese, butternut squash, tomatoes, cucumber and hummusβ¦yum!
Omelet with mixed vegetables, broccoli and smoked salmon
Leek and potato soup with an organic wholemeal roll
Snack plate of dates and sultanas, a chopped pear, Drogba blueberry and lavender dark chocolate and some vegan cherry, choc chip and sunflower seed cookies
Vegetable Thai Green Curry
I really have had a great week off from work. It it doesnβt stop there. I have a lovely weekend planned as I am going shopping for my wedding dress tomorrow with my mum and auntie, going to see the Hunger Games (jumps with joy!) and baking my cookies for the cookie exchange. As you can imagine I am extremely excited!
What have you got planned for this weekend?
Have you seen The Hunger Games yet? What did you think?

Sounds like you have had an enjoyable and productive week off. You chose it right with this fab weather too.
I think I must be the only person who will not be going to see The Hunger Games- the books do not appeal to me at all. Ah well, enjoy it π
Sorry you didn’t like the books. I guess they are not for everyone.
Sounds like a great week! I am going to explore Dublin a bit more this weekend, and we are planning on going to see a movie called “this is not a film” which is supposed to be really good. I am sad that the hot weather seems to have subsided for now π I have seen the hunger games, I enjoyed it, and I might have to start reading the books now!
I hope you had fun exploring π
Sounds like a really nice week :). Have a lovely weekend!!
I haven’t seen The Hunger Games yet π – hopefully soon!!
Thank you. I hope you get to see it soon, it’s really good!
I just saw the Hunger Games last night! SO GOOD! Can’t wait to hear what you think! Good luck dress shopping how exciting!!!
Those muffins should delicious, can’t wait for that recipe! π
Hope you have a great weekend! Sounds like it’s going to be!
I loved the film too…amazing!
Well, by your Tweets you’re probably in the movie by now, but I liked it. The shaky camera work in the beginning was a little over-eager, and probably the director’s attempt to seem edgy and differentiate his movie from others of the ‘teen’ genre (ugh, Twilight, I can’t stand how people sometimes compare the two). But it all calms down in terms of camera work eventually, and I think they did a good job of transferring the book to a watchable screen version: obviously many things are omitted for the sake of time, but not necessarily to the detriment of the cinematic experience as a whole. I was particularly impressed with how the people in the Capitol were depicted, because it would have been all too easy for them to veer into the utterly ridiculous, and thus lose any sense of shock value/comparison to the poverty and want present in the outer districts.
Your salad looks like the epitome of summer – beautiful.
xxx
I really enjoyed the films and Twilight it is not. They transferred the book to the movie screens perfectly with great portrayals of the characters. I was rooting for Peeta the whole way through of course. I thought the camera action at the end was a little choppy and left me a little disorientated, but that is my only critique. π
Yummm I’ve never heard of haloumi cheese but it looks tasty!!!
Oh it’s lovely, especially grilled.
What a perfect week to have had off, it sounds like you had a great time. Those muffins sound great, looking forward to the recipe, and that butternut smoothie sounds right up my street! Enjoy the film; I’ve got my mum hooked on the books too so hopefully will go to it with her over Easter π
You will love the film I thought it was fab!
Frozen cherries have SO tempted me lately at the grocery! Do you buy them pre-frozen, or do you buy them fresh, freezing them via old style domestication recipes? Am so curious! π
I buy them frozen from the supermarket, easiest that way. π
oh wow! the salad and snack plate look fantastic! the smoothie looks amazing too.
Thank you. π
Everything you’ve been eating looks delicious! I’m making some banana coconut choc chip cookies for the cookie exchange – your muffins sound yummy! Enjoy the movie I thought it was great!
You cookies sound fab! The movie was awesome! π
Your smoothies look so good! I hadn’t heard of the Hunger Games until about a week ago, so out of the loop! I want to read the books before I see the films. x
I think you will love it!
YUMMMM such great eats and workouts! Glad to hear you had such a nice week! π
