Starting the day off on the right foot can make a huge difference to how we feel physically and emotionally. There are certain things that I like to do in the mornings to put a spring in my step and help me achieve a healthier lifestyle. Some things have become so engrained into my morning routine that they have become daily rituals. Having a morning routine is a great way to make healthy habits become a natural part of your day to help create a healthier lifestyle. Today I’m sharing my own healthy morning habits that I’ve personally found to be beneficial for my mind, body and soul.
THROW YOUR ALARM CLOCK OUT THE WINDOW
Maybe not literally and I know that this will not work for some, especially for those heavy sleepers out there. Waking up naturally rather than shocking your body to wake up is far better as your body has had the amount of rest that it needs, bringing your body gently into a new day.
GET UP AND MOVE
I’m definitely a morning exercise person and I feel that this works best for me and it has lots of added benefits too. Not only does it boost your metabolism, but it also means you are less likely to skip a workout and it gives you an energy boost to help you jump-start your day.

WARM WATER WITH LEMON
Drinking a cup of warm water and lemon before breakfast has become one of my favourite morning rituals. I always feel like I’ve given my body a mini detox, especially if I’ve had a heavy and indulgent meal the night before.
EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST
The saying goes that you should ‘eat breakfast like a king‘ and it is by far the most important meal of the day. Give your body a healthy and delicious start to the day with a nourishing and satisfying breakfast that will even have royalty’s stamp of approval. A green smoothie full of your favourite ingredients, porridge with lots of toppings, Greek yoghurt with fruit and toast topped with nut butter are all perfect healthy starts to your day.
LISTEN TO YOUR FAVOURITE SONGS
Listening to your favourite music in the morning is a great way to have a positive start to your day. A funky beat or motivational lyrics can be really uplifting and such a mood booster. You could even squeeze in a cheeky little dance whilst you’re making that fabulous healthy breakfast.

Great tips. I’m really NOT a morning exercise person but wish I was! It’s the only way I can squeeze exercise in and often find an excuse not to. For me, I try to achieve one small thing around the house before I go to work. Whether it’s a quick surface tidy or take the washing off of the airer. That way I’ve had a mini-victory before the day has really started and I know one thing has already been done before I get home that day 🙂
Thanks Emma! Mini victories before starting the day is such a lovely thing to achieve in the morning, definitely deserves a happy dance!
Great tips, I’m not a morning person- I have a long commute and I can’t really do much in the morning (unless I got up at 4am!) But I’ve started walking to the tram stop every morning and that’s helping me a bit 🙂
Anything is better than nothing and walking is a great form of exercise. 🙂
Your philosophy is my philosophy, I so believe that starting your morning right is the beginning of an awesome day. I do need to try to add the exercise to the start of my day rather than the end.
I find exercising in the day really sets my day up and I’m more energised.
I was never a morning person until I had children and they have made me make the most of the early mornings. Plus I now eat breakfast, as I want them to see its what everyone does X
There’s nothing like children to make you a morning person.
Some great tips! Your blog is so lovely, I’m glad I found it! 🙂
Thanks so much Jess!
So many great tips here! Just something as simple as having a good breakfast can make a huge difference to my day.
It really can make all the difference.
You missed out “going to bed earlier”! I am only a morning person if I don’t stay up too late!
So true, going to bed earlier is a massive factor of having a great morning and day in fact.
I recently joined the 5 am club and it has helped me so much. Now I workout, meditate and eat breakfast all before 8 am. And I love it!
Wow 5am! That’s amazing Lakisha.
Fabulous tips and something I should start doing. I find my mornings a rush and with baby no2 on her way I really should get more organised. Thanks for sharing, I’m going to give it all a go x
Good luck with baby number two! How exciting!
My 4 year old has school from 7am .That has made me more of a morning person than all my previous resolutions.
I am more productive when I wake up earlier and get more stuff done before the little one comes back from school.
Me too, I get far more done in the morning than any other time in the day.
oh my gosh those pancakes looks delish! I’m defo more productive first thing in the morning, I can’t function more and more as the day goes on! x
Thanks! I’m exactly the same!
Great tips here, thank you for sharing! I’m really not a morning person unless I go to bed earlier! x
Going to bed earlier can be a great help!
I am trying to make time to get some proper breakfast but it generally all consists of cereals or toast.Nothing special. When you have kids and you need to bring them to creche every morning I don’t get time to make other things.
I think starting the day with a decent breakfast is a great start to the day, it has so many healthy advantages.
