If you follow my Instagram feed, then you may know that I’ve been addicted to my green smoothies recently. In the winter time, I still love them but tend to steer clear of them as it’s far too cold.
Now that the weather has improved I’ve lapped up the green smoothie goodness, they’re just so refreshing to drink in the spring sunshine. It was only yesterday that I was drinking my green smoothie that I had made for my afternoon snack in the garden and soaked up some vitamin D.
My go-to green smoothie that I know will always taste gorgeous is a banana and nut butter combo…nut butter with anything is amazing in my books! Making a decent green smoothie is an experimental process, sometimes they work and sometimes let us be honest they can taste God damn awful. In most cases, I think you’ve got to find what works best for your own taste buds and I’m now pretty good at blending a decent green smoothie to nourish my body and make me feel awesome.

- Half of an avocado
- 1/3 cup fresh pineapple
- 1/3 cup fresh mango
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 big handful of spinach
- 2-3 cups almond milk
-
Prepare the fruit and whizz up in a blender until smooth.

Find a funky retro straw and drink up!
I don’t know about you, but there are some mornings or afternoons when I feel like I need coffee through an intravenous drip. Like a shot of caffeine, this fruity green smoothie really gives you an energy boost. The zingy flavours from the pineapple and mango are really rejuvenating and is a fantastic nourishing and green alternative to starting your day with a caffeinated kick. Being packed full with energy boosting vitamin C it’s the perfect way to start any day of the week.
Not only is pineapple great as a natural energy booster it’s also a fantastic source of bromelain, an enzyme that helps to digest food and prevent bloating. You all know that I’m always singing about healthy fats, well this smoothie has those in abundance too…winning! The avocado adds a lovely creaminess and the coconut oil gives it a healthy pino colada twist.
This energy boosting green smoothie was whizzed up in a flash in my Nutribullet. The new gold and purple colours have been released in celebration of Ideal Worldβs 15th birthday after party and are priced at Β£99.99. I’ll be giving away one of these fantastic kitchen gadgets on the blog soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
Are there any particular foods that you feel give you an energy boost?
What are your favourite ingredients to add to your smoothies? Ever dared to go green?
*Nutribullet was provided to develop recipe

I love the sound of this, as I sometimes find green smoothies too bitter. Those floral straws are really cute too x
I love a pretty straw to drink my smoothies.
Green Smoothie are so super energising aren’t they? I just ran a green smoothie challenge and people were so surprised at how fab and energised they felt – may the green goodness live on!!
They really are, I just love them. π
It’s so nice to see a great green smoothie which doesn’t use banana – I am allergic and tend to struggle to find alternatives, so this is fantastic!
I tend to always use banana in mine, but thought I woul change things up this time. Glad that this is one that you can try. π
just went and bought a smoothie maker so this is one to add to my list
Perfect timing for this recipe then. π
I love a good smoothie and like you banana and nut butter is a favourite here, I like to add in raw chocolate sauce to make it a real treat π
Oh I bet the raw chocolate sauce makes your smoothies extra special, yum!
Looks great. I am loving my smoothies right now, sometimes I have two a day! I find it really helps my recovery too.
I’m on the verge of having 2 a day. The weather is just so perfect for them right now.
Ooh I love the addition of coconut oil – does it taste very coconutty?
You get a hint of coconut, but it’s not overpowering. I love it!
I got the purple nutribullet and I love it. The gold one looks great too though.
The purple one looks pretty too.
Sounds like a great smoothie with some of my favourite ingredients: avocado, spinach and coconut oil – I use these in my smoothies a lot. I also use cucumbers a lot but vary the fruit I put in.
I would love to have Nutribullet, I’ve heard some good things about it!

I’ve never tried cucumber in a smoothie before. I will have to give that a go!
This sounds so delicious Jemma!
Thanks Claire! π
I’m planning to start making smoothies for myself. I’ll bookmark your post for some inspiration
I hope you like it if you give it a go!
This looks so good! I’ve never tried avocado in a smoothie before. x
It makes them go all thick and creamy! π
Mmm, this sounds delicious! I bought a blender to make smoothies ages ago and I’ve never used it. I need to pull my finger out and start having a go I think π

This smoothie looks amazing, I am a big fan of smoothies but I haven’t made a green smoothie yet π

I love green smoothies! I followed the Simple Green Smoothies 30 day challenge but now I just make up my own concoctions as I go along. I have been slacking a bit in the cold weather though as you say and have resorted to leaving out the spinach for a bit to try and make them more palatable. I have a strawberry, banana, mango and coconut one next to me at the moment but when I go full out I also add spirulina and chia seeds for the added goodness and protein. I will bookmark your recipe to inspire me to make it green again!! x
I definitely love you green smoothie combos I am yet to make one that tastes the way I love them to taste. For far it has been more misses than hits. Lovely that blender can’t wait for giveaway
I know what you mean about green smoothies and smoothies in general, I love them so much but theres only a short amount of time you can enjoy them in the UK without freezing your ass off!
This sounds so good! I make a lot f smoothies but I’ve never tried to make a green one. I’ve always been nervous how the spinch would taste in it.
