I know that Mother’s Day was over a week ago now, but I’m still reeling over how amazing the day was.  Alfie decided to treat my mum to her first spa day and of course she couldn’t go by herself, so I went along for some essential and much needed support. πŸ™‚ It was unfortunate that my poor mum was ill and suffering from vertigo, but she managed to gather the energy for her spa day.

Last year for Mother’s Day we went to Stapleford Park for a lovely meal and we had a wonderful family meal there at Christmas, so this year we chose to go there for our spa day. It was a day of luxury and pampering.

Our day started pretty early and we arrived at 9.30 in the morning.  We spotted this gorgeous red Ferrari outside in the car park that had obviously been used as a wedding car the day before.

After getting registered and having a cup of tea we headed to the gym for a quick workout.  I don’t think many people use the gyms on a spa day as we had the full use of the gym without any interruptions which was nice.   We did a gentle workout for about 45 minutes before getting changed to start our treatments.

We both had luxury manicures and pedicures which lasted for a about 2 hours in total.  I was happy to see that the spa stocked OPI, which is safe for pregnancy as it’s free from toluene, DBP and formaldehyde resin.  On my toes I went for ‘Got the Blues for Red’ and on my fingernails I chose a pretty shade of pink called ‘And this Little Piggy.’  I loved the pink so much that I couldn’t resist buying a bottle.

Then it was lunch time, I was pretty hungry after all of that pampering.  My feet and hands looked pretty good for dinner, so I had to get the rest of me looking half decent too.

I decided to wear my new maternity jeans that picked up from H&M, which are far more comfortable than wearing my regular skinny jeans.  I also wore my new floral long sleeved top, flats and a jacket.

The Mother’s Day menu was full of so much deliciousness:

I couldn’t wait to get stuck into my chosen meals:

Pan fried salmon with roasted spring vegetables.  I had to leave the lemon hollandaise off my plate because of the raw eggs in it, but my mum assures me that it was very nice.

Chocolate delices with caramel ice cream om a shortbread basket for dessert was epic and very rich!

The table decorations were these lovely plant pots that all of the mother’s got to take home with them.  I thought that was a nice touch, rather than having the usual candles and a single stem flower that most restaurants would display.

After lunch we headed back to the spa for a relaxing facial and neck and shoulder massage. Seriously, I could have had two rounds of the facial – it was blissful.  My mum and I felt very Zen like after that and finished just in time to squeeze in a visit to see my lovely nan.

Spa days are definitely going to become a mother-daughter tradition for us as we had such a fabulous time.

The day was topped of when I got home and received my first Mother’s Day card from Alfie, so sweet!
